About this listen

ISIS delivered a devastating attack, crippling not just one city, as on 9-11, but the entire country.

The government, while disbursing critical supplies, decided that this was an excellent time to consolidate power, and for one senator, the chance to lock in the presidency.

An opportunity to bring the right-wing, anti-federal-government gun fanatics to heel.

The government moved quickly to disarm the populace, using control of food and fuel as weapons, but things did not go quite as expected.

In Reset: Book 1 - The Attack, the longest of the tetralogy, the devastating attack is illustrated in detail, both at a large scale and at the scale of the individual victims. This is no longer just a big-city problem. The violence is unrelenting this time, exhausting in its scope, but people are learning they can't sit back and watch. They begin to fight back. The entire book covers the first 72 hours of terror.

Holy Cow

Very detailed. Somewhat predictable at the beginning of each chapter, but the manner of that the chapters main characters meet their demise is well written. I'm very interested to listen to book 2.

Great Listen !!!

I have over 100 post apocalyptic/terrorist audio books in my library, and this has to rank in the top five. Well worth a credit! Hoping part 2 will be available on audible soon. I’ll definitely purchase!

Not bad - a bit dark

Other than the silly music the book is no bad. It shows how badly the USA could get it's butt beat if the muslims decided to rise up on us.

Quite dark.

It was nice that it was enough hours to be worth some credits

An excellent, non-typical read

Author comes VERY CLOSE to describing what may be a future attack from followers of “the religion of peace.” Taking a wide berth from the usual dystopian story line, this novel will both hold the reader in suspense and provoke real world thought.

Just F'ing WOW!

I will compare this book to a short novella by William R. Forstchen titled "The day of wrath". That little story tore me apart because I live behind a school and watch the children talk to my lab named Ozzie over the fences.
Daniel Syverson took it to a different level and shows what can and most likely will happen here if we allow ourselves to become sheeple. All of the things written are possible I am sure if the money and desire are there. I highly recommend this book and plead with the powers that at Audible to strike a deal and work on getting the series out to us.

Well written, thought out, narrated and produced.

Wow! Pleasantly surprised

This is an author I wasn’t familiar with and honestly bought it because nothing else was jumping out at me while browsing. I should add that at last count, I have over 200 post apocalyptic (non zombie) books in my library and tend to only leave a review when one is exceptional or when one sucks. This book is the former.

This book outlines a terrifying possibility. Coordinated terrorist attacks that would inflict sheer chaos and complete terror in US citizens and done so efficiently. I actually discussed this type of attack with my husband years ago as being the most effective style of attack so it was fascinating to read the author’s vision of something similar.

I don’t want to give away anything, but the way the story unfolds, you become invested in many different characters and their stories very quickly only to be eventually surprised (even though it keeps happening over and over again). That there is enough to keep me interested. You get glimpses of a couple of characters you know we will see later down the line, but they are not much more than glimpses. In this book we follow the terrorists themselves and their attacks. Both the terrorists and the attacks were well thought out and you wanted to keep listening to hear what they do next.

I know this is a vague review, but I seriously don’t want to give anything away and it’s a really well plotted book that needs to be experienced. The narration is done well and is a little more on the dramatized side, which I liked. Take a chance on this one. I guarantee you will be like me and anxiously awaiting the second installment!

Good book. Excellent narrator

I loved the book. The narrator was excellent. My only criticism is that the music at the beginning and end of each chapter was very annoying.

Eye opening.

I will say, this is not a slow read, it is not a fun read and if you love this country, it's a hard read. To imagine that much destruction taking place is mind-boggling but something that could happen.

I honestly think, to drop a tad or reality in on this book, in war, the enemy gets a say and no plan survives first contact. So with that said, while this "could" happen. Pulling off this many likely events with the bumbling crew probably wouldn't be as successful as it was. Mistakes happen and Mr. Murphy shows his head far too often when trying to attempt all the things that were done in book 1. I mean, yes the FBI did stop one city from getting hit and the cop did outguess the sniper post but 3 subpar in intellect, training, and maturity managed to pull off this devastation is a tad far-fetched.

But it is a book, it is written to show how our guard is down and how much evil and hatred this nation has coming at it, and after this summer we see this both internally and externally as well. At the very least, this should be a wake-up call.

It is also unlike any other doomsday book I've read.

A note about the narration, Horton grows on you, he is unique and does a myriad of voices well. By the end of the book, I almost enjoyed the performance.

One of the better "fall of America" series

This book is actually great. The pacing is decent, character development good, premise and action/consequence sequences are believable. It's a series that makes you think about vulnerabilities in the systems around you and how easy it would be for a small distributed group of bad actors to disrupt daily life. Mostly focuses on a few locations but puts up a believable scenario for the attacks even if it does broad brush Muslims and the government a bit. But hey, it's a fall of America book which are typically right leaning and someone has to be the great evil. Fiction is fiction so relax and enjoy. Just don't spend too much time thinking about how this author basically laid out a viable attack roadmap that would most likely be successful. Cause he did.
