About this listen
A year after a racial tragedy, a destructive group called Zero Supremacy marches against the officer involved as the trial approaches. Freshman Jace Kartchner conducts secret operations to undermine them. One of the operations goes wrong, and he must complete community service alongside one of the Zeroes.
Arguments over claims of white supremacy escalate into an all-out fight. Another target of Zero Supremacy is the Bathwater Brigade, a free-speech campus tradition where students seek out all angles of an issue. With college administration refusing to help, they are forced to meet in hiding for safety.
Brigade member Mari Munoz gets Jace's attention as she covertly recruits the right kind of classmates for her club. Jace earns her trust and is invited in. Mari urges Jace to use his new skills to find nuance and common ground with the Zero. Jace can't believe he is actually becoming friends with one of the enemy, and his best friend is ready to disown him because of it.
Meanwhile, Jace discovers he has accidentally given campus administration an excuse to shut down the Bathwater Brigade for good.

Story
Though they've lived their entire lives less than five blocks from each other, Reuven Malter and Danny Saunders exist in very different worlds. Reuven blends easily into both his secular Jewish faith and his typical American teen life, while Danny's conservative Hasidic clothes and appearance make him stick out in any crowd. Their improbable friendship teaches them that the differences separating people through cultures and generations are never as great as they seem.

Story
In Hold On to Your Kids, Dr. Neufeld and Dr. Maté explore the phenomenon of peer orientation: the troubling tendency of children and youth to look to their peers for direction—for a sense of right and wrong, for values, identity and codes of behavior. But peer orientation undermines family cohesion, poisons the school atmosphere, and fosters an aggressively hostile and sexualized youth culture. It provides a powerful explanation for schoolyard bullying and youth violence; it is an escalating trend that has never been adequately described or contested.

To say eighteen-year-old Farrah Higgins—or Digit—is good at math is a laughable understatement. She’s been cracking codes since childhood, and is finally at home with “her people” at MIT in Cambridge. Her talents are so off the charts that her laptop is under surveillance by both the CIA and an ecoterrorist named Jonas Furnis. So when she thoughtlessly hacks into the Department of Defense’s database, she lands in serious hot water inside and outside the law.

An exciting story that is very relevant and needed for the divided world we find around us today.
In addition to an excellent story, the performance by the reader of the audio book was fantastic. He brought the story to life. The author was able to navigate controversial topics like race and inequality in new ways and provide ideas and hope for a better more unified future all while sharing a fun and compelling story.

Powerful concepts
This is a fantastic book which surprises with education and entertainment. It’s a great read for kids and adults, teaching how to get along, find common ground, and work together, even with people we don’t see eye to eye with. Especially with people we don’t see eye to eye with. This is one of those books that can be life changing when the principles are applied. Please give it a listen.

Thought provoking AND fun.
A book for those who like to play Devils advocate and learn both sides of an issue. Well researched and well written a fun and exciting story of right and wrong and the grey area that is always in between. Everyone should read this book because it teaches a strong lesson that we have far more in common than what separates us. I can’t wait to read more from Jefferson Shupe.

So many great and important ideas to think about
I have loved the discussions in my life that have come out of this book. It’s so important!
4 stars for narrator because his girl voices weren’t that great, kind of kid ish but I’m sure those are tricky.

Love your enemies in fictional story for youth
When it first came out I read it in haste, but didn't really get much of a chance to ingest it. Now in audiobook I've started over.
I have learned so much from this book. Best way to describe it is, its a frictional story version of "Love your enemies" by Arthur C Brooks, but targeted for teen and college. I highly recommend it to anyone who cares about truth and want to be better at persuading others to want to understand your ideas rather than arguing and creating enemies. Even more important is that we need to identify why others feel their ideas have value so we can find common ground. Check it out for yourself!
