Paranormally Enchanting

I absolutely love stories set in New Orleans and this one was amazing! Victoria does an amazing job with describing the atmosphere and setting to where you can actually picture being there. This book is filled with ghosts, voodoo, vampires, magic, and yummy food! I really liked Sybella, Josephine, and Marie because they were relatable and written well. I wish that this wasn’t a standalone book, but I’m definitely going to check out more of Victoria Clapton’s work!
Teresa does a really good job narrating this book! I loved that she could bring the characters and story to life with her performance. She had different voices for each character and they were done very well. I feel like the pauses between chapters were unnecessarily long though.

Vampires, Witches and Voodoo

Victoria Clapton painted an alluring tale with her vivid imagery and details. I have always been intrigued by New Orleans, and found it to be the perfect setting of The Binding. I was drawn to the character of Sybella Rose, her cat Marie, and Demien. The storyline was original, had plenty of steam, some endearing characters, and great details. I loved the historical details that were injected into the story that gave it authenticity. Teresa Booth impressed me with her performance. She brought the characters to life with her distinguishable voices. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. I will definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator.

Horrific accents

I can deal with the little kid sounding narrator. Her accents are so bad I want to fast forward through those parts. That’d be half the book though.

It’s the same sort of plot you think it is.

Needs work

I had a hard time with the narrator. She has a fine normal reading voice and voice for the main character but her other character accents leave a little to be desired. At times it sounded like she was trying to talk through marbles or gravel? Again, her normal reading voice was fine and I would have honestly preferred the book in the normal voice in its entirety.

Also the book reads more like a tedious travel guide to New Orleans than a novel. Which I'm sure some people will like, unfortunately the novel parts of the book read like any other vampire book out there. There wasn't anything terribly new or interesting to keep me going and most of the progressions of plot were predictable. The character seemed to know too much about what she was getting into and wasn't challenged by the plot or other characters to make her growth palpable.

My favorite characters were JoJo and Al and I would much prefer a story about them. I admire this author's ambition but I think she needs to figure out how to make her characters and plots a little more unique instead of obviously copying from the dozens of other excessively overdone tales of normal girls finding themselves the center of some vampires attention for obscure reasons or because she looks like someone else.

Thw Binding

Sybella Rose has always had a odd connection to things. But with not much money left after moving to the big easy to live a dream, she finds work in a great little gris gris store under her apt. But she soon meets a dark figure, Deamian, Who she figures out pretty fast is a vampire, a very rude vampire. Than she is plunged into the paranormal world that is New Orleans.

This is a awesome book it has action and a ton of suspense, but most of all flavor. Ms. Clapton has woven this book together into a wonderful pot of gumbo tasting goodness. I lived in NOLA for several years and this took me right back, I love the characters and their typical laissez les bon temps rouler attitude. The audio was pleasant enough and the different voices are interesting, but I surely can't wait to hear more.

Loved!

It was a slow start but well worth the wait! This book took me to New Orleans. Makes me want to go visit just for the gumbo and maybe see a Vampire while I'm there! Loved the ending! So ready for the next book!

The Binding

I liked the beginning of the book.I thought it would last the whole way through.Somewhere in the middle I got lost, then by the end I was enjoying it again. Some parts were way too slow. The story seemed fun.Narration by Teresa Booth was so varied it was hard to review. Her real voice was fine. Her voices were rough, maybe with work they will improve.
