Publisher's summary

A deadly ambush...

Captain Tom Thrush is patrolling the Octagon Rift when his ship is attacked by a black destroyer that seems to predict his every move. Outgunned and outmaneuvered, he flees in a crippled ship to the only sanctuary he can reach—a den of thieves and spies called Lotus Station.

Stranded...

His ship will be broken up for scrap. Half the crew are casualties. The rest are scattering, leaving Tom stuck on Lotus. As the black destroyer hunts down local freighters, Tom becomes obsessed with tracking it down and taking revenge.

A lost corvette...

There are rumors of one more warship on Lotus Station. The Calgary is a heavy corvette captured by the Dawn Alliance and towed to Lotus. A corvette is no match for a destroyer, but it’s all he’s got. If Tom can find the Calgary—if he can get her fit to fly—and if he can find a crew, he will face the black destroyer one more time.

It was really great

The reader read with excitement and emotion. And I liked his sound of dread in his voice which is great for a book of war

Great series

Tom Rush of Earth, of Cree descent has had an uphill battle to be accepted by his peers. After being cashier out of the Navy for rescuing a group of prisoner's he accepts a position on the Green belt Navy. He fights against the Alliance and helps Black Destroyer destruction.

There should be at least another book describing the end of hostilities .

Yes keep the new books coming!

I love how Tom Thrush is growing and maturing through the whole series. Johnathan McClain does a great job of bringing the characters to life. I can't wait for the next book.

Great story, a break from the previous story

Loved it. Kind of a drama version of Phules Company. Can’t wait for the next one

A return to gripping space combat.

I did not expect the Green Zone War series to get another inclusion with a definite opening for more to come.

The story is well understood and voice read. The only thing is that this book feels like a 'part 1' kind of book. The ending is well developed but comes in like a butcher knife chopping off the book ending after the final battles concludes.

Still a good listen and looking forward for the next.

didn't really add a lot

the narration was wonderful but the story content left much to be desired. There was a lack of overall advancement and it read like a grudge settling story.

Dropping this author and this series

There’s 0 emotional maturity in the characters - no growth either. Every time Tom gets mad he thinks of hitting people and then the author says he is a great leader even though there is no text demonstrating a hint of maturity or leadership by him. All the people at war act like kids who are surprised that war involves fighting. It’s nonsensical at times. What you thought you’d fight a war and not get hurt at times?

The narrator is better now than the first few books but the accents are all weird. Dawn alliance is supposed to be Chinese but he makes them sound like Irish and Russians

No I was disappointed. You simply can’t find a decent science fiction story anymore.

Bumble into an ambush. Oh no, what do I do? I’ve never commanded a ship before.

Oh wait, next chapter switch to the point of view of someone being interrogated on the planet then switch back damaged in space I hope the enemy ship doesn’t find us floating in space oh no, they found us. What do we do?

Any consideration I had for the main character of this story I lost in the first two chapters. I’ve vaguely remember this book series from a few years ago and I thought I liked it now I wonder if I did or not this was a pathetic story.

you simply can’t find decent military science-fiction anymore !
