Short but intriguing

Finding freedom on the back of an old Indian motorcycle traveling wherever the road takes you would be enticing. However, the protagonist has always been free to do this and more as he was a member of the Hell’s Angels before he was diagnosed with Huntington’s Disease with just a few years left to live. However, his time may be shorter than he realizes as he stumbles upon the Blue Cantina and nothing is as it seems.

This was a very short story of one man’s travel toward death or perhaps an attempt to escape it. Either way, the story gives a powerful message of death and life. The author, Christopher Whedon creates a story around a genetic and fatal disease. As the listener, he gives us a small glimpse into what can happen and one way of dealing with it. Whedon gives just enough to spur on the imagination of the listener while the character takes it all in stride.

The narrator, Robert Nieman gives a solid performance with a voice that is unique to the character. He speaks clearly and with a steady rhythm. When the character is confused or experiencing a symptom of the disease, the narrator projects that well.

The only downside to this book is how short it was, I would have enjoyed hearing more of the journey.

There were no issues with the sound or quality of this audiobook.
