About this listen

DCI Craig Gillard will be pushed to his limits. But will he break? It seems like a routine disappearance, a case of musician’s stage fright. As a senior detective, Craig Gillard isn’t sure why he’s even involved. Until it turns out the woman’s father is the German minister of justice, and the British home secretary is on the case, too.

But nothing about the case is simple. How does a woman on a train simply vanish? What do you do when a trail runs cold and the pressure is on?

Before long the perpetrator has another target: DCI Gillard himself. What if the detective isn’t just running the case but is part of it? The victim merely a lure for a bigger fish.

The answer is under the bridge. The chilling setting for the biggest challenge of his life.

The latest DCI Gillard Crime Thriller is a knockout: fast and completely gripping, perfect for fans of Stuart Macbride, Mark Billingham and Robert Bryndza.

This book like all Gillard books was really riveting. A very complicated crime story paired with equally compelling personal ones.

Never Disappointed!

Only thing I would change is something’s the reader changed the volume too much for different characters

Very enjoyable

2nd book in series which was recorded either with different equipment or sound room than other books. Volume was affected as well.

Poor sound quality again

Well written with a great narrator. Really interesting to see how the British do police work vs how it's done in the US as well.

Well done detective novels

Best so far in series. The plot was so complicated and the various chases so suspense filled that my heart is still pounding. Ingenious and written with spare eloquence. York's performance gives full life to Louth's outstanding prose. A truly loathsome trickster, con artist, sex criminal and killer challenges Craig and all his colleagues to a deadly race against time and technology, with Sam's and other women's lives at stake. Tiny peeve: I wish Craig would stop hating his aunt's innocent cats. Otherwise, he's the perfect crime novel hero.

Nick Louth is always writing books that keep my heart racing while listening to them. He’s a clever author and I cannot wait for the next one!

Thrilling!!

what a great twisty book! i want to be annoyed at the portrayal of the many women seduced and controlled by a monster, but the depictions of their controller were spot on for a narcissistic abuser. nature and nurture in equal parts.

i want to be annoyed

Craig sounds like a thug as do the whole force. I enjoy the stories, but I am not sure I can continue. You should get someone who can do good English speaking people from England. Not just lower of the lowest. Also better female voices.
