About this listen

For a princess with a deadly stalker, the only place she feels safe is in the arms of her big, tough, and very off-limits bodyguard.

Princess Sofia of Caldova is in San Francisco to spearhead a fabulous royal jewelry exhibition and raise money for her charity…but danger has followed her. With an unhinged stalker hunting her, a dangerous international ring of jewel thieves targeting her exhibition, and her own secret task no one can know about, she’s in need of security.

Enter big, grumpy, ex-military bodyguard Rome Nash. A man who’s guarded her once before, and who she embarrassed herself by kissing…a kiss he didn’t return.

After years on a covert special forces team, Rome Nash thrives on working for Norcross Security as its chief bodyguard. Driven by the losses of his past, he needs to help keep people safe. But guarding a beautiful, elegant princess who surprises him at every turn, and who he knows is hiding secrets, is testing his legendary self-control.

For months, all he’s thought about is Sofia, and now that she’s in danger, Rome’s willing to cross all the lines to keep her safe.

As the exhibition draws closer, jewel thieves attack, Sofia’s stalker strikes, and infamous thief Robin Hood enters the picture. Rome and the men of Norcross Security step in, and Rome will risk everything to protect his princess, no matter the risk, no matter the cost.

Why?

I just want to know why couldn’t Roman have Black woman as his love interest? There are black princesses.

They were both adept and protection

Sophie protected her jewelry and Rome protected Sophie! Despite being a princess, she had a stocker who planned to kill her. Rome knew he should not cross the line but couldn’t help himself!

Bodyguard, princess, stalker, entertaining

This is the fourth book in the Norcross Security series with very enjoyable characters and entertaining suspense, action, and a happy ending. The performance is good but not great in parts. The breathy, dramatic parts are mildly annoying to me.

So good, another level as an audiobook

There are so many good things to say about this book. There's a wonderful mix of action and romance. The characters are fantastic- I adored Princess Sofie who, although a princess, was pretty awesome- no pampered royalty here! And Rome was swoon-worthy. An alpha body guard who was all about protecting Sofie without dampening who she was. I loved how much he enjoyed her real self instead of the princess facade that she had to put on when in the public.

There are actually multiple issues that the couple have to contend with. Not only does she have a stalker but Sofie is trying to market a jewelry show that will benefit her charity for women who are victims of domestic abuse. There is an evil faction of jewelry thieves that obviously want the jewelry, as well as the princess. There are also other underlying aspects that put her at danger and I loved how there was actually a feeling of partnership between this princess and her bodyguard. This was such a well done, fun and exciting story.

I just had the opportunity to relive this story through the audiobook and Teddy Hamilton *swoon*. He was perfect. I really liked Stella Bloom too although I felt like she was a little inconsistent with the accent for Sofie. However, overall, I so enjoyed reliving through this exciting story with these narrators.

Damsel evolution … and from a princess

I normally avoid romances involving famous people, especially royals, but I trusted in the series formula and was not disappointed. To the contrary: after three books with damsels whose best weapon is their pluck, we finally get a woman who knows how to defend herself.

Okay sure, some of her particular sets of skills are too “Liam Neeson as Brian Mills” far fetched.
For that matter, so are the plots, including the idea of a Robin Hood identifying, and then stealing back, jewels from other robbers. Just roll with the eyeroll people.

Thankfully, the story quickly moves beyond Princess Sofia’s stupidity in failing to understand why Rome, as her bodyguard, would rebuff her kiss. I also liked that the previous couples (and not just the men) from the series get some screen time. The spice was about right for me too, hitting my Goldilocks zone of heat.

On the downside, Mr. Hamilton’s narration was worse than normal. In addition to his nasal voice for Sofia, her accent was sporadic at best.

⛔️ Finally, both Rome and Sofia have background trauma involving sexual violence and deaths of people they cared about. There are also tie ins to present threats. It’s not graphic, and in this series you know everything will work out fine.

Great story!!

Anna Hackett never disappoints! The Bodyguard is filled with action, adventure, sizzling chemistry, and multiple plot twists!! Rome and Sofia were wonderfully compatible together!! Rome knew when to rebuke or support Sofia instead of exercising his dominance, being the Alpha Male that he is!! Whew!! 🥰😍🤩Sofia also knew when to listen and not take unnecessary risks, being the risk taker she is!! Teddy Hamilton and Stella Bloom brought the characters to life!! I loved the voices for all of the characters and the excitement felt while listening to their story play out!! The only thing that nagged at me was that the woman who lured Sofia away was never mentioned again!! Overall this was an exciting mix of romance and action!!

Sophia and Rome

Princess Sophia, Sophie to her friends, is back in the states for a gala fundraiser to support her charity foundation. Rome is again assigned her Bodyguard duties, only this time they'll have to contend with jewelry thieves and a stalker as well as their growing attraction.

This series is a great one, with Rome being the next one to find (and struggle against finding) his match. Sophie is a strong woman who knows what she wants and is willing to risk to get it.

Another great read.

I absolutely adored this book. Rome falling for the Princess was the stuff of little girl dreams and adult female fantasies! Loved it
