About this listen

Beyond the din and dancing lights of the Las Vegas strip, a young woman has mysteriously gone missing. All the facts point to something sinister - even paranormal. Quentin Draith, supernatural crime investigator, is hired to assist.

However, the deeper Draith digs, the more otherworldly his assignment gets. Assassins, human and otherwise, put a target on Draith’s head and a ravenous alien beast starts rampaging through the city. The clues point Draith to Sin City’s infamous “Bone Triangle,” a neighborhood marked for its dark happenings and disappearances. And when Draith finds that the woman’s disappearance may be linked to an alien plot against the city, he goes all in to make a final high-stakes play to save the city he loves.

Intriguing, unexpected, and mesmerizing, The Bone Triangle is the second in best-selling author B. V. Larson’s Unspeakable Things series.

Nearly as good as the first in the series

If you could sum up The Bone Triangle in three words, what would they be?

Adequate Sequel. OK.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

It wasn't engaging to the extreme, but I did look forward to continuing straight through to the finish without too much interruption.

As exciting as the first!

The Bone Triangle
Unspeakable Things Series, Book 2
By: B. V. Larson
Narrated by: Benjamin L. Darcie
Book 2 was just as exciting as book 1! This book has our characters jumping through portals even more than before and onto different planets. Our hero is slowly learning about his past and collecting magical artifacts. It's unclear who he can really trust! So many back stabbers! One of the characters is a fire slug-thing! Turns out she has a significant role to play in part of the book! This is a fantasy/sci-fi. Lots of new creatures and some of the old characters are back in this second book! Loads of action and it is never dull!
Terrific narration too!

Good book, strange narration

I liked the story a lot, but the narration just felt kind of hollow and lifeless.

Only slightly less interesting than Book 1

Lots of action and more than enough suspense to keep one entertained. The narrator was good but I found myself preferring Christophe Lane on several occasions.

Poor choice for narrator.

Christopher Lane was a much better choice on the previous book. The gritty detective noir feel of the series is not well served by Benjamin Darcie's wholesome hometown boy performance. I hate it when there's a narrator switch midstream. It completely alters the personality of the characters. The main appeal of any series is a familiar continuity. I feel that has been totally disrupted here.

Another sight at supernatural Vegas

Would you consider the audio edition of The Bone Triangle to be better than the print version?

The narration really adds to the story.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Quentin Draith, he's the quintessential main character the gets beat up a lot.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Not exactly moved, but when he gets his memory back.

Any additional comments?

I really like the concept of magical items that grant you a random power, reminds me of some other book, manga or game but I can't quite remember which. Characters' sides keep changing and some seem a little flat. Overall, a good new series forming up.

Wonderful Story

A great mix of mystical things and the common things one takes for granted. The story comes off as a very plausible possibility given a bit of twisted physics. Wonderfully entertaining.

Unfinished series

The two books had a good setup a few things got mixed up in the story but the major downside is there’s no book 3 :(
