Not the Bible... but

This won't substitute for your Bible, but it sure will bring the Bible to life! It's true the author has used some literary license to fill in some blanks, but he clothes the Biblical characters in flesh and blood! And the narrator is EXCELLENT. I was brought to tears many times and I rejoiced for a new appreciation of "God's Book."

Extremely entertaining and hilariously funny

I have listened to this book so many times and never get tired of hearing the author. Such talent and brilliance is worthy of the book being novelized - The Holy Bible.
would recommend this to new Christians before any other fun book.

Wonderful

The author tells the stories of the Bible as you would read them in a modern novel. It's delightful. Memorable characters, interesting stories, drama and romance. It's weird to say that about the Bible in many ways, but this is great, interesting, and well done.

Just wonderful

I couldn't get through the book so got the audible. he tells the story so well and is one of the best narrator I've heard so far. he does voices for different characters, tells the story from different perspectives, and is comprehensive of the old and new testament. just captivating!

Great Narrative

Thoroughly enjoyed listening to this book, start to finish. While not a replacement for Bible study, it is easy to follow, thoroughly entertaining, and brings to life the Bible stories. Definitely worth the time. My 80 year old mother heard some of it and said, "that's really in the Bible?"

great book

as a pastor, this book refreshingly takes familiar stories and gives them a whole new perspective. a couple places he took some liberty like with song of solomon being a crush of Tamar on Solomon. Overall it has really made the Bible come to life, highly recommended and well researched.

Great story

The writter and reader are great at old fashioned storytelling. Theres word play and rythm, also, but this writter is great at spinning a yarn. Its his particular talent. I can imagine how well he tells stories to family and friends

This was the third time I listened to this book and each time it has revealed something I didn't remember. Loved the narrator.

The Book of God: The Bible as Novel (Unabridged)

I enjoyed every chapter in this book. It made the stories and the people much more alive and real. I have a different impression of Simon Peter,Mary Magdaline, the time of Abraham and even Judas. I find myself remembering parts that I never would think of before and pick up the Bible to re-read different chapters and verses with a new understanding. Just reading the Bible never brought me back for clarification, but this book brought me back to the Bible.
