About this listen

The dead don’t come back, but some never leave...

Jack Kelly remembers everything about his wife and children. The wonderful smell of his wife’s hair, the way she whispers to him at night. His three children running through the house, the sound of their laughter.

That was his life before the accident. His near-death experience left him in the in-between space, somewhere between this world and whatever comes next. But he recovered and woke up as his 13-year-old self.

The doctors tell him it is a false memory, a result of his fall and the insult to his brain from his injuries.

“How can a 13-year-old boy have a wife and three children”? They ask.

But how can he see and hear dead people, demons, ghosts, and shadowy creatures? And if they exist, then is it so inconceivable to believe that Jack’s life as a 47-year-old man with a wife and children existed, too?

Jack begins his journey to find out why and how. And, in the end, he resolves to find his way back to his true existence, back to his family.

The Book of Souls is the first book in the series. The Book of Demons is coming...

Duality, Spirituality, Time Warp and Ghosts

What more can you ask for? Kevin Moore's first book is a wild ride. There are so many things to like about it but my favorite is the duality theme that runs through the foundation of the book. There are some shocking moments in the book where I literally thought, "Oh wow, did he just go there?" and of course, Moore does go there. He has no fear. Fear brings on the shadows and you definitely don't want that! Absolutely, love this book. Also, the narrator does a great job capturing the scary, the vulnerable and the strength of the characters. Can't wait for the sequel...Book of Demons!

Intriguing story; annoying cliffhanger

This definitely held my interest. The narrator was ok but sometimes his tone is annoying. I didn’t realize this is part of a series so was a little annoyed when everything wasn’t resolved but I guess I’ll wait for the next book

From the first page, I was intrigued.

It started off with really creepy vibes. I felt for Jack as he continued life after waking up from a coma. Everyone around him told him he was only 13 years old and the family he remembers so vividly was a result from the injury he received after falling in an abandoned building.

The story itself kept me interested throughout the whole book. I did not hear any issues with narration and found the narrator easy/enjoyable to listen to. I am interested in continuing the story when the next book comes out in fall of 22.
