About this listen

A demon unleashed. An ally imprisoned. Zola risks a pact that could kill them all....

Zola Adannaya, necromancer and mentor to Damian Vesik, seeks an ancient artifact in order to save her student. Unfortunately, the only beings with the knowledge she needs are demons she trapped long ago.

Traveling to a small town in southern Missouri, where one such demon was cursed to a mundane existence, Zola must convince the creature to cooperate. Negotiations with a demon are always treacherous and Zola finds herself on a quest she may never return from. Her only hope lies in Corydon, on a distant battlefield guarded by an Old God.

If Zola fails to end a conflict centuries in the making, Vesik could pay the ultimate price - as could the world itself.

They keep getting better!

I love diving into these short audiobooks. Erin Moon does a phenomenal job reeling me in.

I have been missing Zola and was exciting to see this one is mostly about her. She is one bad cajun!
I highly recommend the ENTIRE series! It is hard to chat up the individual novella without including spoilers.

Finally, Zola!!

Of all the amazing characters in these books, Zola has been my favorite. Her story is compelling from a historical, as well as human point of view. This book gives us insight into her life, before Vesik, which fill in a lot of blanks. As always, Etin Moon has done a masterful job bringing the characters to life. My only regret is that our beloved William Dufris was not here to do Zola. Oh to hear him say shiiiiit one more time. Eric Asher is an amazing author, you will not be disappointed!

The strength of these characters amazes me!

I really don't know how to review this book. It left off in such a spot to make it feel like a bunch is missing, which I'm sure is the point to gear up for the next part. I love Zola. And, it seems there are still so many secrets she's been keeping. I loved getting to see a bit of Foster again in this book as well, I've missed him almost as much as I've missed Damian. The sheer mettle of these characters is astounding! As we get closer to the end game, one would hope for more of the positive news but, this is war, and positive seems to be something from the distant past. Really looking forward to the next part of this journey.

I continue to really love this narrator for this series.

Zola!

Another fun installment in the Books of the Dead with Damian’s allies working feverishly to save him from doom. I’ve been looking forward to Zola’s story in audible. She has a way with language and inflection that makes her narrative fun. Erin Moon does a fantastic job of the voices, especially carrying forward from the late William Dufris’s amazing take on the first 8 books. Overall, this is my favorite series. Necromancers, Sarcasm, strong women, fast pace. You really can’t go wrong. You do have to read this series from the beginning. Enjoy!!

Wow! Fantastic continuation of the Vesik series

This was great! I loved this installment! Zola, Vicky, and Luna doing their part, fairies fighting, and of course, some adventures of Happy and Ward. It was short but action-filled. I can’t wait for the next book!

Excellent performance by Erin Moon. I miss William Dufris, but Erin is really doing a tremendous job with these narrations.
