Publisher's summary

She can't remember...

Tayla Hawthorne finds herself far from home with no memory of her past - her only connection an ornately carved locket. But when a dark and dashing stranger triggers a familiar yearning inside her, she discovers that the key to her future lies in her past.

He must forget...

Rafe Redbourne has a lock on his heart. For eight years he has carried the weight of his past on his shoulders, immersing himself in his life as a bounty hunter, tracking fugitives. So, when he promises to find the lost girl who took everything from him, he must decide how far he'll go to keep his promise, and if she's worth opening his heart again.

Excellent

If you want a sweet romance with intrigue, suspense, lots of action and historical content then you must pick up this book. Rafe and Tayla will win your heart as will many of the other characters in this book. I enjoyed this book tremendously and highly recommend it. Troy Duran once again does an amazing job with the narration. His voices are always spot on and he never disappoints.

I Love the Redbournes So Much!

Kelli Ann Morgan has such a way with storytelling! She creates amazingly complex, well-rounded characters that you will love right from the start, even the "bad guys". There's also a wonderful mix of humor, sweetness, intrigue, adventure, simmering hints of desire and a great deal of love and respect. There were some great twists, too, and I was surprised a few times.

It is a true pleasure to listen to Troy bring it all to life so beautifully. He always has just the right tone for every character and situation and once I started it was very hard for me to break away from the story. I ended on coincidental, self-created cliffhangers a number of times when real life intervened and couldn't wait until I could continue listening. I highly recommend the Redbourne series; it's a great world in which to escape!

Like watching an exciting movie...

What did you like best about this story?

Love the characters. Love the plot. This is a story full of intrigue and romance. One that will keep you on the edge of your seat and guessing until the end. A truly wonderful read. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a western romance with all the fixings.

Memories and Resentment collide into Trust

Would you listen to The Bounty Hunter: Rafe's Story again? Why?

I would listen to Rafe and Tayla's story again so I could see what I didn't "hear" the first time I listened to their story. And, to figure if the female sheriff is in another story to come.

Have you listened to any of Troy Duran’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I listened to The Rancher, the first book in the Redbourne series. I love the story set in 1876, which, led me to order The Bounty Hunter. The narration is a little monotone but he does a great job of "telling" their stories!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There are several twists and turns before coming to the realization of who the true "bad" man is in the story. There are several moving parts in the book...when Jake is injured and Rafe has to doctor him back to health....Tayla slowly getting her memories back...the twister tearing through town and Rafe finally letting go of his resentment toward Tayla

A Great Talent!

It's my understanding that Kelli Ann Morgan has only written 2 books: The Rancher and The Bounty Hunter--what talent!

Since there are eight Redbourne brothers and one sister, I'm hoping she will write each of their stories. I'm hooked on historical romance books, and how refreshing it was to listen to one with new and fresh ideas. There's no sexual scenes, but there's romantic desire.

With so many characters in the story, brothers, sister, mother, father, outlaws, new and old friends, you have to listen carefully to keep up, and there's so many twists and turns, especially at the end, you won't want to miss a word.

Troy Duran gave an excellent narration.

I highly recommend it!

The Bounty Hunter

I enjoyed this book, the characters and the story line. My reason for writing a full review, is the narrator. He has a wonderful voice, his female voices could use a little work, but not so much as to take away from the book. What did bother me was a mispronunciation of the word livery. Such a simple word but pronunciation is liv·er·y /ˈliv(ə)rē with a short I. Sounds petty, maybe, but it was a hick up in an otherwise great narration.

guitar strumming

What's with the weird guitar strumming? Very annoying. I set the sleep timer and listen in bed till I fall asleep. The loud annoying strumming was startling and annoying.

Sexless story!

This book has absolutely zero sex in it. If you like that kind of story this is the story for you. Perfectly narrated by Troy Duran.

hated it

I bought this book because everyone raved about it. But it was the sappiest romance novel ever written. I returned it after maybe 4 hours. I couldn't take another word of the obvious drivel that it was.

This one drags and drags

I read the first story and loved it. This story, where do I start? It took weeks to finish because the plot just dragged. *Spoilers* we meet the protagonists (Taylor) as she’s about to be kidnapped. She escapes. Suffers a head injury and loses her memory. We then meet Rafe the bounty hunter. A very long story short Rafe runs into Taylor and apparently he knew her from her past. He was engaged to her sister who left him at the alter. But Rafe hates Taylor who at age 14 somehow was the cause of his relationship breaking up. But now he sees Taylor and is instantly attracted to her (YUCK). He acknowledges that she was to be his “little sister” and he has loving memories with her. But now he’s lusting over her. She’s into him too. The whole time he won’t really tell her anything if her past and she just accepts it (WTH) if I lost my memory I’d badger anyone that could help but she’s like “‘meh ok”. At the end her sister appears. Rafe is over her bc he wants little sick yuck (she’s like 22) and they end up together. Oh Taylor was engaged to someone else and Rafe knew the whole time. Jurist a creepy story.
