Publisher's summary

Now that Derek knows the truth, everything is out in the open.

He still wants to be with me.

But I’m afraid this is temporary. I’m afraid he’ll change his mind. I’m afraid he’ll realize he’s not up for the task.

And I’ll lose both him...and my job.

literally my favorite romance series EVER (I've listened to over 40 in 12 months. Romantic, sexy, funny, easy to connect to the characters. Biting at the nails for the next book!

BLEW ME AWAY

Back in November last year, when I first started Emerson and Derek’s story, I knew the wait in-between books was going to absolutely slay me.. so I’ve impatiently waited for all four books to be released so I could binge-listen to the entire story in one delirious go. And binge-listen I most certainly did.. I went back to their friction-filled angsty start, I carried on captivated as Derek’s walls slowly came down, I listened transfixed as a beautiful friendship was forged and a loving romance bloomed. And I listened in awe as a caring role-model Mom always put the needs of her twelve year old daughter before her own. Derek and Emerson’s love story was a beautiful hard-won gem.. until it wasn’t. His failures and Emerson‘s betrayal toxically mixed in Derek’s mind with the hurt-filled memories of several devastating times in his past and, when he came face-to-face with two of those ghosts, the results for Emerson was heartbreaking and final.

And I was so glad I was able to dive right in to the next book.. and then the next book as the story ebbed and flowed dramatically through some very choppy waters where two strangers had replaced the once happy loving couple from the previous chapters.. and these strangers had impenetrable walls surrounding their hearts. I thought it would take something powerful to heal the hurt, to repair the damage, to rebuild the trust and to put the shattered pieces together again.. and that powerful wake up call came from a sad place.. an illness that left everyone reeling. An illness too close to home.. an illness that broke Derek’s walls like a tsunami.. and suddenly regret, disgust in himself, remorse, shame and his love for Emerson came flooding in. But it was a very different Emerson he’d be dealing with now.. because Momma bear is fiercely protecting her cub.. and her heart - and her walls will rightly remain impenetrable for a long time.

There were so many wow feels to Derek and Emerson’s story.. the anticipation of a boss/employee relationship turning to love.. the climax when their hearts and souls are fully entwined in a beautiful sexy romance.. and the feel-good feeling when a daughter, a family and friends come in and enrich the storyline. But the emotions darkened and carried on.. disbelief as the foundation of their hard-won beautiful relationship started to shake.. horror as it all came tumbling down.. sorrow for all they’d lost.. anger, dislike, betrayal towards Derek.. tears, sympathy and sisterhood support for Emerson. And absolute heartache for the pages that followed.. for the touching sentiments.. for the wise words uttered by loving parents who supported and guided the steps of true love. Respect for a family united together through illness with grief and hope-filled prayers to be spared. Warmth as the storm clouds pass.. hope as soul-mates take tentative step towards each other instead of away.. happiness as forgiveness and love finally healed two broken hearts.. and joy from the happy ever after Epilogues that leave you sated but sad it’s all over.

Worth a credit? Well, it’s a four credit story.. so YES.. YES.. YES.. & YES. This is a well-written rollercoaster with beautiful emotional highs and devastating lows, it’s got a great strong cast who go through so much but come out the other side with inner strength and character growth.. it’s got some powerful, touching, beautiful sexy/love scenes and it’s got a tender second chance that was wonderful. I don’t usually listen to a book twice.. but after this I may go back and hear Derek’s Mom and Dad’s epic romance again.

Hate for Public School Teachers

I have loved these books...

UNTIL there were snide comments about public school teachers. Not ok. Rude and disrespectful.

I am so offended.
