Publisher's summary

As the director of concierge of the Liberty Building in Tribeca, it’s my job to take care of the rich and famous, the billionaire suits, their trophy wives, all the VIPs. It’s like running a hotel - but for billionaires.

When a penthouse opens up, it’s like the floor of the stock exchange. The highest bidder wins. And this time, the winner is Deacon Hamilton.

He’s young and gorgeous...but a tool. He hardly says two words to me, won’t even look at me when he speaks, and treats me like an imbecile.

But the longer I pick up his dry cleaning, deliver his groceries, take care of all the details of his life, the more I realize he’s not what he seems.

He’s just brilliant. Extremely brilliant. A Nobel Prize-winning doctor and researcher, Deacon Hamilton is one of the most gifted men on the planet. But he doesn’t know how to talk to people, doesn’t know how to communicate, doesn’t know how to connect with anyone. Except me.

Bland narration

The story itself seems OK so far. I am actually not too far into it, but am having such a hard time with the narrators that I had to come in to leave my 2 cents.
The female narrator is quite monotone throughout most of her narration, and even the during conversations between the characters. Though she does a decent job at the different voices. Then chapter 5 and the narration changes to the man. His voice doesn’t sound anything like what the character should sound like, and every other character he voices sounds awful.
I don’t know if I will even be able to finish it, especially since I bought it not knowing that there are 4 books and apparently this one ends on a really bad cliffhanger.

⭐️WOW.. AN INTENSE 4-BOOK EMOTIONAL ROLLERCOASTER⭐️

This four book slow-burn was a back-to-back listen for me as I inhaled every delicious and richly described minute of it. New Tenant Deacon is a closed-off, cold, socially awkward Billionaire genius and he first ignores and clashes with Cleo, the Apartment Block’s very efficient and skilled Concierge Director.. but slowly she’s able to see the heartbreaking truth in this damaged man’s secretive life. The shy and sensitive Nobel prize winner in Medicine suffers from an antisocial disorder.. he doesn’t know how to read people’s emotions.. their sarcasms, double-meanings, innuendos, and emotional feels are all lost to this complex and layered Pharmaceutical owner. His work to cure Cancer and his devotion to his five yr old son Derek is his entire life.. but he’s been cruelly forced to walk away from sweet gifted Derek and now Deacon is living in New York. But slowly Cleo’s understanding nurturing nature, compassion and skilful meddling tentatively bridges the gap between Deacon and his hostile gold-digger b’tch of an ex. She calms his emotional turmoil.. she shares, and shoulders, his misery and loneliness by becoming his loyal friend.. she opens his heart for possibilities to happen.. and she enables emotional boundaries to be broken. She eventually heals the scars of a bad marriage and does the impossible.. she brings joy back into his layered damaged life. And it’s going to take all four books to quell the many lows, it’s going to take many wrong steps before they finally get it right and it’s going to take sizzling chemistry, passion, thrills, sex and tender touches, understanding and unwavering devotion to light the way to love. But it’s not only Deacon’s ex that causes turmoil.. because Cleo’s ex will also cause devastating problems too. The character growth by Deacon and Cleo was subtle, lengthy and well-written as their first animosity slow-burns through the friendship dial to love. The relationship-building by Victoria Quinn was subtly done.. be patient because it’s so worth it. Great dual POV narration throughout the series brought the pulse to the characters and made the many different feels uncovered in the storyline raw and real.. beautiful and bold.. heavy and heartwarming.. and absolutely addictive. Derek is sweet and will, eventually, get a four-book series of his own. WORTH A CREDIT? Well for their love story to conclude we’re talking four credits.. and YES YES YES YES each and every one of them (IMO) is a riveting growth and a stepping stone to the 4 x creditworthy love story.

Slow Burn

I was thoroughly surprised that I loved this story so much. Victoria Quinn delved inside the psyche of each character and had me rooting for them to progress into a physical connection because they connected on all levels. Deacon's lack of social intelligence made him so endearing. His inability to recognize love when it extended beyond his son was well written. I was so enthralled with the story that I didn't miss a more physical connection, but I feel that when it happens, it will fire on all cylinders. Victoria has written a classic love story that reminds me of other unforgettable stories. I can't wait for The next book in this series because I feel that they will truly click, but I see trouble brewing from previous relationships.

Romance-building only story

This is a really good romance-building story. It’s a very slow burn that's great because we get to know the characters and know them getting to know each other. There's a bit of non-explicit sex talk about wanting sex but no sex. The 2 narrators each play the H and h, and it's ok. Though they don't do equally well when performing the role of the opposite sex. The story ends with a cliffhanger abruptly.

THIS IS KIND OF AWESOME AND DIFFERENT...

I'm usually skeptical of a series that continues the story of the same couple in all the books, but this one looks like it's going to be worth continuing. It's a true slow burn but the author is doing a great job of developing this relationship.

I'm a big Michael Ferraiulolo fan, but I'm not impressed with his performance as Deacon. It's too sweet, too soft and the voice he gives Deacon's brother is feminine. Lia Langola does a better job of the male voices in this audio. That's just my opinion.

Powerful Story!

Wow! This is one great love story! I can’t wait for the next book. Both narrators did a fantastic job with the voices. I could picture the characters!
