About this listen

Refreshing. Loved this story. Eli put it down, and Lauren singing a different tune. It was great reading a story about a different couple where the man was not a billionaire with the woman appearing to be helpless and needy. I recommend buying the book, you will not be disappointed.~ Bookworm

******************

Lauren Shaw needed to find a date that could stand in as her “plus one boyfriend” for her ex’s wedding. Only she hadn’t dated anyone since her old boyfriend, being the cheater that he was, had done as his title implied - and that had been a year ago. Damn Marcus for roping her into having to save face to go in front of his fiancée.

But as a 29-year-old accountant, she neither had the time nor the “sociable personality,” as Marcus would say, in order to make anything real work with anyone. However, that quickly began to change when her assistant Eli Sorensen - a 22-year-old ex-model with a face like Michelangelo’s David and the body to match - walked into her office asking to borrow $400 so that he wouldn’t be homeless when he couldn’t pay his rent, due to maxing out his wallet on emergency car repairs. And as reluctant as Lauren was to loan him the money, Eli’s problem quickly became the solution to her own.

Hire him for the wedding.

Interracial Office Romance

This story was surprisingly really good but short. I liked that the main female lead was older and the male lead was younger who appeared to be mature for his age. I think the story would have been told much better with a narrator instead of virtual voice but didn’t stop me from listening to this book more than once. 😃 This book contained some hidden gems that I enjoyed hearing play out between the main characters like Eli on the low being dom in the bedroom.

Cute office romance

I love that she is the boss and he is the assistant.
The story had a good plot with a sprinkle of drama at the end.

Virtual Voice is Not A Good Thing

The storyline was fantastic, but the narrator's robotic, monotonous delivery and the lack of distinction between the characters' voices detracted from the experience. It was challenging to discern who was speaking. If the characters were voiced by individuals of different genders and backgrounds, or if the virtual voice had more varied tones, the audiobook would have been much more engaging. This experience has left me uninterested in virtual voice audiobooks, and I have no intention of purchasing or listening to another one.
