Publisher's summary

Books seven to nine in the gripping, fast-paced crime fiction series featuring DCI Whitney Walker and forensic psychologist Dr. Georgina Cavendish.

Ritual Demise

Someone is watching…. No one is safe.

The once tranquil woods in a picturesque part of Lenchester have become the bloody stage for a series of ritualistic murders. With no suspects, Detective Chief Inspector Whitney Walker is once again forced to call on the services of forensic psychologist Dr. Georgina Cavendish.

But this murderer isn't like any they've faced before. The murders are highly elaborate but different in their own way, and with the clock ticking, they need to get inside the killer's head before it's too late.

Mortal Remains

Someone's playing with fire…. There's no escape.

A serial arsonist is on the loose, and as the death toll continues to mount, DCI Whitney Walker calls on forensic psychologist Dr. Georgina Cavendish for help.

But Lenchester isn't the only thing burning. There are monumental changes taking place within the police force, and there's a chance Whitney might lose the job she loves. She has to find the killer before that happens. Before any more lives are lost.

Silent Graves

Nothing remains buried forever…

When the bodies of two teenage girls are discovered on a building site, DCI Whitney Walker knows she's on the hunt for a killer. The problem is the murders happened in 1980, and this is her first case with the new team. What makes it even tougher is that with budgetary restrictions in place, she only has two weeks to solve it.

Once again, she enlists the help of forensic psychologist Dr. Georgina Cavendish. But as she digs deeper into the past, she uncovers hidden truths that hurtle through the decades and into the present.

Loved the combination of stories

Loved the stories, i wish thought that the killer doesn’t ‘speak’ because sometimes it gives away the killer too quickly. I would rather not know

Getting better

Although formulaic- the series is developing the characters well. Reminds me of Rizolli and Isles in a way.

Too repative

Too repetitive -
Don’t know how these books got to be so popular. I find them tedious repetitive and the women aren’t that bright either. The narration is enough to make you rip your hair out.
If it’s a male speaking, use a male. I listened to the whole series and I came away with nothing but these women need coffee every two hours and worry about stupid stuff.
In real life, no supervisor would ever get away with the abuse. It does not ring true.

This series has become progressively tedious...

I purchased the first 3 book volume of this series because it had good reviews, is in one of my favorite genres, and it was a good deal. I didn't particularly love the main characters but the stories were ok. Now however, after finishing this volume I can't take any more. All of the supporting characters are at best 2 dimensional with absolutely no back story. I hate both MCs and I am beyond tired of hearing how worried they are for each other if one of them has more than one drink. We get it already, quit preaching at us.

Also, not every single person in the world is hiding something or is guilty of a crime. It is ridiculous for Whitney to treat everyone she talks to as a criminal. And if I have to hear one more time about her mom and brother being in care facilities due to dementia and a brain injury, or that this has to be the clue that will break the case wide open, my head might explode. Why would the author take what should be a strong female lead and turn her into a winey and angsty child?

Clare Corbett does an excellent job and I have enjoyed her wide range of accents and voices. Will definitely listen to another series if she is reading.
