About this listen

A captivating novel of first love, Egyptian mythology, and family, from the number one New York Times best-selling author of And I Darken.

Isadora's family is seriously screwed up - which comes with the territory when you're the human daughter of the Egyptian gods Isis and Osiris.

Isadora is tired of her immortal relatives and their ancient mythological drama, so when she gets the chance to move to California with her brother, she jumps on it. But her new life comes with plenty of its own dramatic - and dangerous - complications....

Fans of Kiera Cass' Selection series or Cynthia Hand's Unearthly trilogy will fall in love with this enchanting, heartfelt YA romance.

Good Story but not a series.

EXTREMELY disappointing that this is not a series. There are so many places this book could have gone. Not only was this book EXTREMELY short but it didn't go sleep into the story. It truly felt like it was just the introduction into the series..... unfortunately there is nothing to be introduced to.

it was pretty good

I definitely enjoyed this book. I'm a fan of the author, and the narrator was pretty good, too. I'm no longer in the intended audience, so I'd say this is geared more towards teens, but it was still pretty good.

The interesting plot through the eyes of a teenaged young lady.

This book reminded me of the 4 daughters that I helped raise with my wife. Also, my oldest turned out to be a very creative writer, beginning with the tradition that we created - oral story telling when she was very young.

I enjoyed this book 🌛🌞🌍🇪🇬🐊🤴

I have not finished this yet but so far its amazingly funny, entertaining, new and different, and just plain good! This is definitely far different from what I would normally choose from but it looked like it might be a good story but it has been shockingly great this far and the narrator is fantastic.
Ill be responding back after I have listened to everything.

Update: really liked it

Would not read again

I really tried to read this book. I had to start about 6 times and then finally just rushed through to the end. This was for a book club. Definitely wouldn’t recommend. Very narcissistic and perpetual victim main character.

Much promised, less delivered

I was hopeful this would be entertaining, but I found myself more annoyed with the protagonist than anything else. There were a lot of likeable parts of the story, but I found myself suspending disbelief a lot, which took me out of the action. I know it's supposed to be fiction, but it left something to be desired. I'm going to chalk my displeasure up to this book just not being for me. I think a younger reader might find it very enjoyable.

No real payoff

I was very excited for this book!! Very intriguing story idea, I love all mythology, and a modern day setting/twist was exciting to me. Great narration too. It didn't really go beyond that. There's an early setup for danger and godly power/struggle but it never goes into any detail about that. The whiney and selfish main character is unbearable and it's hard to care about her at all. Her constant "poor me" and "I don't believe in love because it ends" is tired and cliché. The entire story is just an insta-love story between her and a guy that is so obviously not just a random person she met. The actual danger doesn't come until the very end, and it was no real danger at all. I wouldn't waste the time. Waited a long time hoping I'd understand the lack of plot and just never came.
