About this listen

Carl Weber is a New York Times best-selling author who’s made a name for himself with wildly entertaining works marked by his trademark wit and storytelling panache. In The Choir Director, Bishop T.K. Wilson is banking on dynamic new choir director Anthony Mackie to reverse the failing congregation’s fortunes. But while Anthony’s got more than enough chops to raise a heavenly chorus, he’s also got a weakness for the ladies that could make the Devil himself stand up and take notice.

At first I was apprehensive about listening to a book with church drama, but I was pleasantly surprised. The story was well written and the narrators did wonderfully. Definitely would recommend this book!

Drama in the church!

I really liked this book but at times I felt it was a little far fetched. I don't believe that a First Lady would do the things she did no matter her intentions. With regard to the ending, someone knows. I can't say too much so's not to give away the story. As always, the narrators did a great job. I really like Carl Weber, but I must say that some of his ideas get old since they are carried over from one book to another. Overall, it's worth the chip and does not disappoint if you like pure fiction.

Good read, but a little far fetched at times

What can I say that hasn't already been said? Carl Weber is one of the best! His pen game is crazy! I hate that Monique didn't follow a basic rule... "Verify." I'm so glad to know that James Black was a blessing to others all the way to the end. I'm so glad that Old girl finally got caught in all of her lies. Can't wait to listen to part two.

Drama!!!!!!

I’ve read over 10 of his novels and I stick by this conclusion after this book. Monique’s story is completely unrealistic - we are expected to believe the same woman who could figure out a financial scandal by herself would also betray her husband so easily? In First Lady, she was proven to be well grounded and shrewd (not easily fooled by people), but he undoes all of this character development in this story. There were a 100 different ways to make her story even more interesting. Sadly this was not one of them. I’ve noticed a trend of belittling women in Carl’s books and this one was the same. Only reason my rating isn’t lower is because the other plots in the story were fine and the overall performance was good.

Carl Weber doesn’t like women

This book held my attention from the very first chapter to the last word spoken. I couldn't put it down! If the characters sounds familiar, it picks up the storyline of Bishop T.K. Wilson and the First Jamaica Ministries congregation from "The First Lady."

Be forewarned: if you can't stand cussing and sinning in a fictional story, then this probably isn't the book for you. But ... if you know that we all fall short and that this is just fiction, be prepared to giggle and gasp at all the treachery these church folks stir up.

Extremely well written and fantastic production. Bravo!!!!!!

This is what an audiobook is supposed to be!
