Story
It's just a small story really, about, among other things, a girl, some words, an accordionist, some fanatical Germans, a Jewish fist-fighter, and quite a lot of thievery. Set during World War II in Germany, Markus Zusak's groundbreaking new novel is the story of Liesel Meminger, a foster girl living outside of Munich. Liesel scratches out a meager existence for herself by stealing when she encounters something she can't resist: books.

Editorial reviews
Three kids - a street musician, a clockmaker, and a maid - learn they may hold the solutions to each other's problems. Meanwhile, danger lurks just around the corner! Marc Thompson handles this steam-punk adventure with verve. His pacing is slow and clear, for those little ears. He maintains a serious, thoughtful tone; after all, these kids' 19th-century America is no laughing matter. Most importantly, Thompson gives the three main characters their own distinct voices. No wonder Publishers Weekly gave The Clockwork Three a starred review.

Story
For a decade, I’ve hated the supernaturals who owned my world. I hunted them. I killed them. And now, in the most grand twist of fate - I am bonded to one of them. Oh, the irony. Being a supernatural bounty hunter isn’t exactly a popular job. But after the magic wars, there aren’t many things a human can do that will put food on the table. Thankfully, anything my right hook can’t handle, my guns can. Or so I thought.

This Book is Amazing

I was hoping for something more steampunk, more cogs and wheels, but that was a very small part of the book. I could not get into the story or the characters. The narrator was okay, but even better at 1.25 speed. This is not a bad book, just not anything special.
