About this listen

Picking up where The Preparation ended, the collapse begins to unfold in this second book of the 299 Days series. In The Collapse, the government stops working, guns and ammo are in high demand, and a trip to the gas station has become a mission rather than an errand. Grant and the Team see these warning signs and know it is only the beginning, so they begin taking action to protect themselves and their loved ones. As they prepare to get out of dodge after a deadly incident in Grant's neighborhood, they will soon learn whether the preparations they made in Book One will be enough to survive the breakdown of society, or if they don't stand a chance against greed and violence in the face of a collapse. The resulting chaos and fear that begins to envelop the country will strip all of the characters of what they know to normal, and will require them to question what they will stand for, what they will stand up against, and, most importantly, who they will stand with.

This is a real page turner

The saga of Grant continues as he deals with the disintegration of American society. His wife Lsa seems to be the most dance physician in the world who doesn't understand anything that is going on around her

A great read for armchair prepper people!

Would you consider the audio edition of The Collapse to be better than the print version?

n/a

What did you like best about this story?

dealt with ordinary people

What aspect of Kevin Pierce’s performance would you have changed?

I listened to the person more than the story. A more neutral reader would have allowed the story to come through.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

Any additional comments?

Just ordered book 2.

Women wimps

I enjoyed the slightly different take on societal collapse. I am afraid the political and financial background was a little confusing for an average reader.

Having most of the women in the book being helpless wimps with normalcy bias got really old. There are women preppers to who don’t appreciate that stereotype.

Realistic

No fluff, real to life, what it would be like if things collapsed economically, kept me riveted.

Now your cooking with cisco!

So the story kicks up the gear in this volume and the end will leave you wanting more. Would love a theatrical release like the war of the world's on radio from back in the day of this series.

Part Two Doesn't Fail to Deliver!

What did you love best about The Collapse?

The way that the Collapse was portrayed. It struck me as entirely realistic and drew me into the story. I feel like an economic collapse is most likely and they way it happened in the story sounded most likely.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Grant, his character is flawed and human. He does a great job dealing with what was dealt to him.

What does Kevin Pierce bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

His story telling ability is unmatched. Truly a great narrator that brings a level of emotion to the story that draws you in. He really just adds a whole new level to the story.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

The Sacrifice to Survive

Any additional comments?

An awesome series.
