Publisher's summary

The seventh chilling mystery in the bestselling Hangman’s Daughter series.

The year is 1672. Hangman Jakob Kuisl and his family travel to Munich, the cosmopolitan heart of Bavaria, for a meeting of the prestigious Council of Twelve, the leaders of the empire’s hangmen’s guild - prestigious for dishonourable hangmen at least. But something dark is happening behind the scenes: in the past weeks, young women have begun turning up dead. At first the authorities assume they are a rash of suicides, but when Kuisl notices that each woman possesses a matching amulet, suspicions arise that someone is murdering them.

With no suspects, the superstitious townsfolk of Munich blame the hangmen’s guild, certain that they have called the devil upon the city. Joined by his daughter Magdalena, son-in-law Simon, the rest of his extended family and a slew of eccentric hangmen, Kuisl must solve the mystery of who is murdering the women. If he fails, the consequences could reverberate across the empire, affecting all the hangmen in Germany.

Loved it!

As I listen to each book in turn I'm always fascinated how a great who-done-it can be weaved into a historical background. This is the best book so far!

Best so far

Almost like a trilogy wrapped up in to one volume. Multiple storyline plots intertwine to create a novel that you simply can't put down. one of the best historical fiction authors treats you to an interesting array of facts about geography, science, medicine, and history amounst other things. The afterword, which should definitely be read last provides interesting facts and insights into the writing of the book. most exciting is the fact that more novels in the series will be forthcoming. it will be interesting to see how the author tops this one.

Excellent series! I wish there were more

The hangman’s daughter series has been absolutely excellent. I only found it because audible was doing a sale one day and the first book was available. The premise seemed interesting so I thought I might try it since it was only a few dollars. Wow was that a good choice: the books are long but they are NOT boring. Definitely worth the investment. And I find that I will listen to this series from the beginning because they are just that good. The author grows these characters in such a way that you can’t help but love them and want to see where they go and what they do. I highly recommend you start from the beginning and enjoy yourself until the end. I hope they do continue this series because there seems to be so much more to tell.

ANOTHER WONDERFUL STORY FROM OLIVER POTZSCH

The hangman, his daughter and son-in-law travel with the small boys to a convention of hangmen. Murder and mayhem follow. As always, a very interesting tale.

A great addition to one of if not the best series I have found. Anxiously awaiting the next book.

Mystery Amped

I love this book. It was a great price but put off listening to it because I thought it might be lacking because it needed to be translated. It was one of the best mysteries ever. It had mysteries inside of mysteries and the family felt like my own family each doing their own thing to help each other. It was easily one of the best mysteries ever.
