About this listen

Buried deep in a ravine in the picturesque Smoky Mountains is a very dark secret.

David Hobbs, vacationing with his wife Miriam, inadvertently stumbles upon a small cloth keepsake bag and a broken tooth. A human tooth. Miriam begs David to hand the bag and tooth over to park officials, but he ignores his wife’s pleas and secretly keeps the "harmless" items. The action opens a doorway that had been closed for nearly a hundred years and unleashes hell on Earth, or at least hell in the lives of David and Miriam.

Following the brutal murder of his best friend in Denver and an unprovoked attack on his oldest son, David desperately seeks to understand why a mysterious teenage girl has chosen to terrorize him and the males closest to him. To prevent further devastation to his family and end the wanton bloodshed, he returns to the enchanted hills of eastern Tennessee, where a terrible truth awaits discovery - one that forces him to face the consequences for the unpaid sins of his ancestors.

My Favorite Story Comes to Life!

Anyone who knows me knows that I love the book Cades Cove: The Curse of Allie Mae. I have read it numerous times and even managed to listen to the original version of the audiobook a couple of times.
Let me tell you that this new audiobook is the best! The narration is top-notch and I love the little bits of music at the end of each chapter. Even though I am very familiar with the story, this is so well-done that I still found myself getting scared, to the point that I had to stop for a bit and take a break.
Kudos to the tram of Aiden James and Timothy McKean - you hit it out of the park!

Great Story line, struggled with narrator!

This book had me intrigued when I read the synopsis. But when I started listening to the narration I felt as if ever new sentence was brought on to abrupt. I felt my self waiting for something to happen with each sentence it was sort of nerve racking. I’d love to listen to the rest but I think I’ll use my own voice and purchase the books.

My neck of the woods!

I loved this book, I’m in the foothills of the Smokies, so it was kind of neat the way places were mentioned. A well written ghost story!

New audio version does not disappoint!

I read the Curse of Allie Mae many years ago. I have since graduated to only audio books and was excited to see this had come out with a new narration. It has taken me awhile to post my review because I cannot listen to this book at night before I go to sleep, as I do most audiobooks. It is that frightening and that real. I lived in the mountains around Cades Cove for many years, and grew up in East Tennessee, so I'm very familiar with the haunts and stories of the mountain people, as well as Appalachian history. This captures every single bit of that perfectly along with a hefty dose of horror. It is not for the faint of heart. I have read almost all of the author's books over the years and this remains one of my favorite. The new narration does not overwhelm and is not distracting, but lends a quiet peacefulness to the horrifying journey of one family, belying the twists and turns that this story inevitably takes. I won't delve into the storyline, as that has been done very well elsewhere. I will only say if you are a fan of horror and ghosts and things that Go bump in the night, this is an audiobook that will leave you sitting awake with the lights on. Do not miss it !

Reviewers must all be relatives of the author

I found this book to be not scary at all as other reviewers claimed. The adult scenes were so unnecessary to the story. and felt forced and unrealistic. It was as if the author himself was uncomfortable with the sex, and yet thought it was part of 'the formula' so he tried to work it into the book . I tried to like it. I like ghost stories.
