About this listen

China: A land of ancient wonders. A history of tradition, triumph, and tyranny. As it casts a shadow across the entire globe, this once forbidden country awakens as the dominant force in a new world economy.

Business empires will rise, deals will be made, lives will be lost as money changes hands, but one treasure will remain the most precious in all of China: a diamond known as the Eye of Fucanglong, the Dragon God of lost jewels and buried treasures. The diamond is flawless. It is priceless. It is cursed. And it is about to be stolen in the heist of the century.

Can Professor Fathom's team of gay adventure-seekers find the diamond before this perfectly executed crime leads to a cataclysmic event of mass destruction?

From the towers of Hong Kong to the diamond mines of Shandong; from the streets of San Francisco to the deserts of Dubai to the male strip clubs of Beijing; from China's mystical past, to the boardrooms and backrooms of a modern industrial giant, take the high road to China and join in the sizzling action and nonstop adventure of The Curse of the Dragon God.

Killing everyone in China? Killing just the individual mastermind out to steal the diamond? Why didn't the guy who put it on display get cursed? Is the Dragon God satisfied going around without eyes or as just a head?

It doesn't really matter because the story was a fun romp worldwide by allegedly bad guys and allegedly good guys. I think I have figured out. Gay men are the good guys and everyone else are bad guys.

I never did figure out exactly what was the curse of the the Dragon God.

I found this an amusing take on the Bond-genre of novels. The writing is decent, the plot unbelievable (but in a good way, in the sense that the heroes are just as resourceful and lucky as Bond might be, not the bad way that nothing hands together and the reader is frustrated). Going in with low expectations and a willigness to go for the ride, you will find it worth the while. So while it is not moving romance, it's still fun and it's finally time some tough guys who save the world get rewarded by a good stubbly kiss.

Suspend your disbelief and have some fun

What about Daniel Carter’s performance did you like?

besides reading the book well, and not over-doing the characters which some narrators do, i loved his accent. makes the action adventure story that much better.

Any additional comments?

like watching the bourne identity or mission impossible but with five of them and they get it on with each other instead of some lame girl. well written, fast-paced, exciting, fun, suspenseful and hot. i don't know what else i could wish for (besides that someone would write a bad-ass lesbian equivalent!)

note: this appears to be the third in the "Fathom's Five" series, i didn't realize that when i got it but i didn't feel like i missed much.

so much awesomeness

Complex, barely credible story line, characters seem to trip over each other and are rarely well defined. Daniel Carter's reaading is flat, emotionless and it often seems he's encountering the material for the first time. Probably not worth a credit.

Story okay, performance horrible
