Whispers of war, cryptic warnings, and new dangers await...
Plunging into the second year of training as a squire, everything is looking up for Will. He gets to train with his best friends, work a new mentor, and learn to become a knight of Alamore. Though the war of the winter is a raw memory, Will is doing his best to push the secrets he's uncovered about who he truly is to the back of his mind. As long as he never speaks of his relation to King Tollien, he hopes he will never have to consider its consequences.
But secrets aren't meant to be hidden forever and there are others who are not as willing to forget.
With the arrival of a mysterious knight in Alamore demanding council with King Revlan, the short peace is fracturing. Now keeping his royal lineage a secret is a battle in itself. The Ranger has ordered him to trust no one, to hide the truth of who he is, and pretend that he is just another squire. And Will is trying his best.
The problem is that people seem to know. Rumors are running through the castle about the arrival of this new knight, unrest in the south, and the grey cloaked riders attacking the unweary in the woods. Will and his friends and thrown into the thick of new dangers when it becomes clear the these rogues are after him and Will must face the Cutthroat Prince or risk losing more than just his life.
The Cutthroat Prince is the riveting second part of the William of Alamore series. Perfect for people who loved Ranger of Kings, as well as works by authors such as Pedro Urvi, J. K. Rowling, and Brandon Sanderson. Listen to it today!

William is a great character. He's young, but smart and determined. It's easy to relate to him and understand why he does the things he does. He wants the simple life of a regular squire, but that's just not in the cards for him.
The story is fast-paced, well-written, and full of action, drama, twists, humor, and loss.
The supporting cast is filled with characters who are entertaining and well developed. Colin the brainy worrier and Rowan the loyal joker are good friends and provide a laugh or bit of wisdom at exactly the right times. Rowan is a scene stealer. I wouldn't mine reading a story from his POV. :)
I read the story that details why Laster dislikes the Ranger of Kings. Wow, he can hold a serious grudge! I am curious if he will ever let that go.
The Cutthroat Prince and his band of bullies are great bad guys who are easy to dislike. I'm more than ready to see not nice things happen to those guys.
Jordan Westengaard performed the story. He did a fantastic job with the narrative and William, but I really loved the way he portrayed Rowan.

Language: PG - Not a lot but there is some - no f-bombs
Violence: PG13 - normal to genre - no overly graphic murder scenes
Sexual Content- none
These books should be read in order, as this one picks up where the first book left off. This is one of those coming of age series with a knights of the realm feeling to it that is simply a lot of fun. I read this with my 17 year old son and we both really enjoyed it! These books are from the squires perspectives, has plenty of action, intrigue and no romance - this is very geared for the young male audience but renaissance/medieval adventure and D&D fans will all appreciate these books.
The narrator does a fantastic (4.5 stars) job with the voice differentiations and acting!
