About this listen

Legends speak of wizards with the power to rival Gods....

To Hump, it’s just a story. Apprenticed to a wandering wizard, he grew up on the road, following the coin on whatever quest it took them. He always believed his master was just an ordinary hedge wizard, until the old man suddenly died, and his book of spells bound to Hump’s soul.

Knowing no other life, Hump takes up his master’s staff and heads out alone into a world of dungeons and monsters. Scorned by the gods, wizards can trust only their own wit and skill to survive.

Lacking the godly gifts and grand ideals of the Chosen few, Hump fights for something else. If he wants to eat, he needs to work. And with a new Dungeon opening in Bledsbury, where better for a young hedge wizard to earn some coin?

So begins the path of The Wanderer. The White Flame. The Hedge Wizard.

Experience the start of a Progression Fantasy LitRPG Series about a working-class wizard out to forge his own path and prove that one does not have to be Chosen to do great deeds.

About the Series: Multiple magic systems, spells stolen from the gods, and an undefined path of progression, The Hedge Wizard brings a realism-focused spin to GameLit/LitRPG. Explore a world of long forgotten legends, where the Gods now reign and monsters roam.

Lots of combat, like lots of it and described well. Lots of magic, but nothing over powered. Everything had a cost.
Narration was very good. I thought the characters were very well done, using their base desires and needs to drive their actions, no mad dragon queens here.
Well written. I’m going for book two, I need more of the sexy huntress and rusty knight.
They should be able to get him some real armor now btw.
This is not the best. Doesn’t have the sophistry of Harrow, not as huge as He who Hates on other countries, but that’s okay. It’s about the weak 1st level wizard in the party, that gets their chance to shine.

For some reason I delayed picking up this book for a while, boy was I wrong, this is a great book and series so far (Just got the 2nd). Both the story and the performance are top notch, The character progression system is different than other standard LitRPG books (not the system constant pop blue screen), just go with it, at least you're not bombarded with stats, and each character levels in a unique way.

Really looking forward to Book 2! MC is not overpowered, loved all the side/ support characters. Everyone has unique talents, purpose, and contribute to the party/team. Before picking this up, I wrongfully thought this was a solo type of adventure, It's not. 5 stars!

Love It! Not usual LitRPG progress Not complaining

I find myself confused by some of the reviews. I found the story well written and narrated. While some identify the protagonist as quite negative by nature and nurture it doesn't detract from the story in any way. Perspective is the cornerstone of individuality. I wholeheartedly agree this is not in any way a litrpg.

Good stuff.

The book was pretty good. It kept me entertained. The antagonist was predictable so no real big reveal. The narration was well done. I'm looking forward to the next one.

pretty good book

Loved the book and can definitely suggest it to my nieces and nephews. ‘Hope it continues ‘cause it seems like it’s going to the dragons.

It was just a good time. Sometimes the jokes were a little too forced but overall it was funny, and had me wanted more

The narratior did and amazing job with the MC, you can feel his inpatient sighs very well. Also, the story isn't rpg heavy at ALL, it's more

Amazing MC and narration.

I really liked the MC he is very is pragmatic. his sidekick is very Naive. they make a good combination the MC Curves his sidekicks naivete and the sidekicks makes the MC a better person by making him help people more. the LITRPG Aspect are Mainly brought up in the MC book as Classifications And tear rankings of his spells so you are not Beaten over the head with stats and levels every 10 words like other LITRPG books do. if you are in to filler in the from of Endless state check and level up Notifications. the MC also does not have endless Self reflection and contemplation so it not like other LITRPG in that respect. the story will thought out and satisfying.

Light LITRPG and Obvious bad guy
