About this listen

Sometimes a change of address can change your whole life.

Declan Ward has been called a lot of things in his life. Drug baby, delinquent, and dirty little gay boy just to name a few. As a child in foster care, he heard it all, and as an adult he knows better than to worry about what other people think of him. But when he gets into a war of words with his neighbor, he earns a new nickname, and this time, it’s one he likes, one he decides he should definitely live up to.

After all, the new guy never actually said what it was the D stands for in his letters, but Declan has a few ideas and would be more than happy to show him.

Brett Coburn is a mature, respectable adult. He doesn’t get into arguments, and he doesn’t name-call like a kid on the playground. It doesn’t matter that the guy in 403B is the best-looking man Brett has ever laid eyes on. He’s a dickhead, and Brett has the letters to prove it. That’s why nobody is more surprised than Brett when their thinly veiled threatening letters take a turn for the fun and flirtatious.

Is it possible they have more in common than they realized? Can they overcome the rough start to their friendship and turn it into something more? Or if they let their relationship become about more than just the “D” are they both bound to end up brokenhearted?

Great Listen

This was an easy listen and a low angst romance. Quite enjoyed all the characters and the narration was top notch. All the voices are distinct, and as noted by other reviewers the way he voiced Star was a breath of fresh air. I LOVED that she was given such a husky voice, it suited her so well. Really, all the voices fit the characters and were consistent - a BIG deal for me with audio. Again, cute narrated well.

Worth the credit

Jonathan’s narration was fantastic. It’s so rare to hear a woman’s voice portrayed by a man with a deeper inflection. It was a balm and one I didn’t know I needed, it enriched Star’s already unique character and made her one I loved. It made her so much more real to me.

These boys need to work on their communication skills, even when writing was their initial connection. This story was short, low on the angst scale, & Insta love.

Excellent Voice Acting

First, I have to say that I love how the conflict in this story is a real problem that the MCs must work to overcome rather than an easily solved miscommunication. This story is likeable and funny with just enough tension to make the payoff rewarding, and the narration absolutely enhances it. From whiskey-voiced Star, to sharp and snarky Declan, to the even baritone of Brett, this narration is full of characters and relationships that you'll fall for. Highly recommended. Happy listening!

Hmm.

This is a new to me author as well as a new to me narrator. I was actually given this book for my unbiased honest review.

The story was cute. Not really my type of story, only because I'm not really a neighbor/ enemy to lovers type of person. But I can admit that it was a cute story.

The narration is good and has a pretty good pace. I would listen to him again.

Sweet contemporary romance!

This was a sweet light hearted, wholesome romance.

The characters were likeable, relatable and engaging.

The storyline was interesting and I enjoyed listening to low angst, opposites attract contemporary romance.

The narrator does a fabulous job portraying the characters and giving them their own distinct voices.

I definitely recommend this series!

I loved the book when I read it and I loved listening to it even more.
Jonathan Steiger was able to bring life to Declan and Brett’s emotions that I missed when I read it. So good!
