About this listen

To do: swim naked in the moonlight; play in a high-stakes card game; ride an elephant; be painted sans clothing. Take a lover....

Lucy Merryweather has inherited a fortune - and her great-aunt's list of unfulfilled wishes. What better way to honor her memory than by accomplishing as many of them as possible? And with Lucy's family an ocean away in New York, nothing stands in her way - if one ignores the private investigator hired to spy on her. Yet Cameron Effington is infuriatingly difficult to ignore....

As a reporter Cameron is always looking for a good story. An American heiress running rampant between Millworth Manor and Mayfair is the perfect subject. Not to mention captivating. And extremely kissable. And if Lucy believes he's a detective? Well, the truth should never get in the way of a good story - or hinder delicious, impetuous passion....

A FUN and Romantic Adventure! GREAT Narrator!

Would you listen to The Daring Exploits of a Runaway Heiress again? Why?

Absolutely!

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Daring Exploits of a Runaway Heiress?

Lucy's gusto! She is a wonderfully written heroine with a strong will and bold sense of adventure.

Which scene was your favorite?

I enjoyed the scenes with Cameron and his family. Gemma Dawson did an incredible job distinguishing the different brothers. She brought the characters to life and really accentuated the humor.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Reading the aunts journal and witnessing Lucy bringing her lost dreams to life a generation later.

Any additional comments?

Thoroughly enjoyed this series, looking forward to more from this author/narrator.

What's the most daring thing you've done?

Have you listened to any of Gemma Dawson’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not, but Gemma Dawson is very good. I loved the voices she created for the story. Dawson exhibited nice pacing. I would listen to her again. She's definitely a candidate for being one of my favorite readers.

Any additional comments?

I loved the exploits. They were fun and cute and risque for the period (some of them anyway). Lucy is a wonderful heroine who combines sense with adventure. Does she trust the hero too quickly and without references, of course, but she does so to keep her own runaway adventures a secret from her folks for as long as possible. Cameron is a sweet and sexy protector. I enjoyed the pairing very much.

Well done!

A fun, entertaining, lighthearted and enjoyable book. Excellent characters, visuals, humor....
A couple of good hearty laughs too!
NARRATOR : I've always found Gemma Dawson to have minor mouth sounds that are tolerable and only very rarely distracting. Her character's are each recognizable and her delivery smooth. She speeds up occasionally but it almost sounds like it's a character flaw rather then narrator misstep. Occasionally I heard the performance instead of the book but it was a brief occurrence.

CREDITWORTHY? I say yes. I may not spend my LAST credit on it.... and I recommend you listen to the sample... but yes, it is creditworthy.

HEAT FACTOR?: Zip, zilch, nada. A kiss or two... that's all.
