About this listen

Bound by the demon of Doubt, Sabin unintentionally destroys even the most confident of lovers. So the immortal warrior spends his time on the battlefield instead of the bedroom, victory his only concern...until he meets Gwendolyn the Timid. One taste of the beautiful redhead, and he craves more.

Gwen, an immortal herself, always thought she'd fall for a kind human who wouldn't rouse her darker side. But when Sabin frees her from prison, battling their enemies for the claim to Pandora's box turns out to be nothing compared to the battle Sabin and Gwen will wage against love.

Because of this series, Gena Showalter is a must read for me. Damaged alpha males, romantic story lines, humor and lots of action. I am a happy listener.

Love this series! Have listened multiple times.

This series is awesome!I don't know why I hadn't picked it up before. New to Gena Showalter I didn't know what I was going into, but I'm glad I gave this series a try! It has super interesting characters with flaws that make them relatable and just that much more compelling. Not to mention the insane relationships that you just can't help but root for!
But whyyy does it cut off at chapter 23?? I've removed and redownloaded this several times and it corrupts and goes back to an unplayable beginning, which then shows that it's not downloaded?!! :[

Why?

Gena Showalter is a wonderful author and I recommend anything she writes. The Lords of the Underworld is an exceptional series and the stories of mythological beings is wonderful.

Love the Lords

I love the Lords of the Underworld series. This was no exception. The love scenes are wonderfully written and this book inparticular has a bit more action.

I can't wait for the next ...

My only issue was with the audio. I love the guy who reads these, but there were some mistakes in reading along the way. These weren't edited out. Didn't take too much away, just a bit distracting.

Another great chapter in series

The Darkest Whisper was just another awesome book by Showalter. I just love how all her characters work together also as you go through the books you get to check in on previous stars and it's great to see them grow.

What made the experience of listening to The Darkest Whisper the most enjoyable?

Listening to the Darkest Whisper allows me to visualize what the characters look like and how they behave as appose to just reading the book.

What other book might you compare The Darkest Whisper to and why?

All the other stories in this series This series seems to be on the more serious side. It reminds me a little of J.R.Ward, Blackdagger Brotherhood series.

Which character – as performed by Max Bellmore – was your favorite?

The harpies are my favorite they are bold and don't take anything guff from anyone.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, there is a lot that goes on in this story and you need to listen to it in sections the first couple of times.

Any additional comments?

Very good series.

Sabin cannot be with a woman without causing her destruction and as much as he would love to test his new found control on the wickedly tempting harpy Gwendolyn he knows that he can’t. She temps him to detraction and as dedicated as he is to the current battle the Lords of the Underworld have been tossed in to he just cannot afford to lose his concentration or to put anything above his obligation to his fellow lords.

Sabin stalks into Gwen’s life and makes it known that she means nothing to him. Why then does he want to train her so badly? Is she just another weapon in his arsenal or is there something else there? When she accidentally unleashes her harpy and overwhelms Sabin everything changes. Gwen goes from timid prisoner to the ultimate warrior but will she become a prisoner of love?

Additional bonus to this excellent story: a visit from Kresley Cole’s Immortals After Dark Nucking Futs Nix, one of my all-time favorite characters from any story!!!

Things are heating up in the underworld!
