About this listen

A mystery. In this clean time-travel whodunit, a middle-aged coffee-shop owner always wondered what his life would have been like if he had stayed in town the day his college fiancée disappeared, the victim of an unsolved crime.

One morning he wakes up 20 years earlier and finds himself a student at the University of Oklahoma again on the day she died. In a journey that takes months, he stumbles over people connected to Kim's disappearance and puzzles over connecting the dots.

Oddly enough, things are different when he relives sections of his life. For example, as a teen he plays baseball, and as an adult he discovers what it's like to be a Christian pastor - things he never did before.

Can he find some answers about Kim and about his own life? Or prevent Kim's death? And if he succeeds in changing history, what happens to his wife and kids?

Target audience: mystery fans, Oklahomans, Christians, baseball fans, male listeners, romance listeners.

The Questioning Author

The story was ok. I had to force myself to finish listening. Could have had a better narrator. Book was read too fast. It was like he was racing through this book. I guess some narrators think fast is excitement. I felt rushed as I was listening.
The ending was nicely unexpected. A little hard to follow the story. I think this was due to the narrators rushed feel.
I debated returning the book, but I’ll keep it. I’m not sure who was at fault here, the author or the reader. The author asked too many questions throughout the book. A lot of the questions were implied and did not need to be asked. The premise of the book was acceptable.

Just Average Time Travel Mystery

Average story about a man who gets to, mysteriously, relive pieces of his past, with different outcomes, all in order to figure a tragic mystery from his college days and achieve overall contentment in his current life.

The book tried to foster a moral/spiritual lesson narrative to tie the time frames together, but because it was awkwardly applied, this message often gets lost in the proceedings entirely.

Narration is not as good as many other books I've listened to previously. The Voice Artist's voice is clear and strong; but, peculiar phrasing and inflection takes away from overall. performance.

Overall an average read to pass the time - if someone absolutely needs a time travel fix and is having problems finding a book in this genre.

Couldn't put it down.

Loved the book, and it did turn out with a great ending. However the murderer wasn't who I thought it was going to be.
