About this listen

The Doll Collection is exactly what it sounds like: a treasured toy box of all-original dark stories about dolls of all types, including everything from puppets and poppets to mannequins and baby dolls. Featuring everything from life-sized clockwork dolls to all-too-human Betsy Wetsy-type baby dolls, these stories play into the true creepiness of the doll trope but avoid the clichés that often show up in stories of this type.

Master anthologist Ellen Datlow has assembled a list of beautiful and terrifying stories from best-selling and critically acclaimed authors such as Joyce Carol Oates, Seanan McGuire, Carrie Vaughn, Pat Cadigan, Tim Lebbon, Richard Kadrey, Genevieve Valentine, and Jeffrey Ford. The result is a star-studded collection exploring one of the most primal fears of listeners of dark fiction everywhere and one that all listeners will want to add to their own collections.

Stories in this anthology by: Stephen Gallagher, Joyce Carol Oates, Gemma Files, Pat Cadigan, Lucy Sussex, Tim Lebbon, Seanan McGuire, Carrie Vaughn, Stephen Graham Jones, Miranda Siemienowicz, Mary Robinette Kowal, Richard Bowes, Genevieve Valentine, Richard Kadrey, Veronica Schanoes, John Langan, Jeffrey Ford.

Worth a listen, but don't expect goosebumps.

Any additional comments?

Seventeen varied stories with a creepy doll theme. But don't expect Chucky. **Review will appear in July edition of SQ Magazine**

Best Narration Ever

The reader is one of the best Ive heard. She can do any voice, never sounds fake, strained or over the top. The stories were enjoyable but the overall experience was first-rate because of the narrarator. This is worth a listen because of the quality of the stories and the narrarator.

great read

Loved this book. As a doll collector myself , was thrilled to find a set of stories that were about them. Each story was unique and off the cliche story lines.

Very enjoyable

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I wasn't wowed by anything, but I have no complaints. It's definitely worth the price or a credit.

Robotic reading

The narrator sounds like a robot, I honestly thought that it was a computer reading this book. And the stories, just boring, I couldn't even finish this book. Just Awful.

Extremely disapointed...

I took a chance on this based on the many rave reviews of how "chilling" and "scary" these stories were... now I wish I hadn't. Not one of the stories even remotely thrilled me. Maybe its just me, maybe I'm expecting too much. But I am so tired of searching for horror books that do little or nothing to satisfy that desire to be haunted. It's very hard to find something that truly gives me chills, but I keep on hoping that my next listen will be the one. This, however, was not it. Most of the stories were boring, and some didn't even seem to have any connection to dolls. I found myself speeding through most of them just to get to the ends. The narrator was okay, nothing special, definitely didn't add a creep factor. Everyone's tastes are different, so nothing against those of you who enjoyed the book, but for me, it just wasn't even close to what I was looking for.
