About this listen

A boy who lives every day twice uses his ability to bring down bullies at his new school in Mike Thayer's humor-filled middle-grade novel, The Double Life of Danny Day.

My name is Danny Day, and I live every day twice.

The first time, it's a "discard day". It's kind of like a practice run. At the end of the day, I go to bed, wake up, and poof everything gets reset, everything except my memory, that is.

The second time, everything is normal, just like it is for everyone else. That's when everything counts and my actions stick. As you could probably guess, "Sticky Day" Danny is very different from "Discard Day" Danny.

When Danny's family moves across the country, he suddenly has to use his ability for more than just slacking off and playing video games. Now he's making new friends, fending off jerks, exposing a ring of cheaters in the lunchtime video game tournament, and taking down bullies one day at a time...or is it two days at a time?

They should make a movie

Loved it so much and is appropriate as a mom of 2 I find myself listening to books that is appropriate for the younger child, but it is not always interesting for the older child but this book was interesting for them both

Was perfect for our family road trip

I/we loved this book. We listened to it as a family on a road trip. The premise was very unique and we enjoyed that it wasn't just surface level. It definitely get's a little philosophical and includes some great life lessons. It did a great job striking the balance of being written for middle grade readers (our kids are 6, 8, 12), but enough in there for parents to enjoy too. It reminded me of a Pixar movie in that sense.

The narrator was excellent too!

Fun story for the entire family

We listened to The Double Life on a road trip. It was something the entire family could enjoy...mom, dad, 16, 9 & 7 year olds. The story was entertaining, funny and kept our attention. The narration was well done.

Best family road trip Audible book of all time.

We listen to a lot of audio books on road trips and this one wins hands down. It had all of us rolling with laughter time after time. My family has been trying to quote some of the funny lines ever since listening. Highly recommend to any 4 to 99 year old.

The fact that there were to many potato puns.

Great story. I live in Idaho and we love are potatoes. The only problem is that the way you betray the potatoes, in Idaho it’s more of a fact we have lots of potatoes, but we have so many beats. Fun fact there’s one of the biggest sugar beat factory in the US in Idaho! Coming back to potatoes, there’s more fry’s than tots, you haven’t lived tell you try home made fry’s. Also we don’t use potatoes in everyday slang. Besides that I would like more of the pretty countryside, truly the desert is so amazing! There’s skiing, hiking, swimming and more! That’s just a suggestion. But besides that love the story! I have a truly hard time finding books from Idaho, and I love and hate the spud jokes. Want a second!

Really great YA find!

I love the modern day creativity that has gone into this Groundhog’s Day twist! I can practically hear my pre-teen kids in the pages! A very fun and imaginative premise and excellent offering from a new author, can’t wait to see what’s next for Danny, and what other fun stories Mike Thayer brings to life!
