About this listen

Their power is in the strength of their bond. But deceit threatens to break it.

It’s official. Kaelan Younger has finally been accepted as a dragon tamer at the Akademy. Yet even as she begins to learn the extent of her powers, a mysterious illness stalks the dragons and threatens Prince Lasaro.

More than her bond with the prince is endangered when Kaelan seeks help from a most unlikely source. As a result, the lies to cover her deception mount. But with the enemy’s armies gathering at Alveria’s borders, Kaelan will do whatever it takes to save those she has sworn to protect - even if it means sacrificing herself.

Now Kaelan and Lasaro must find a way to heal the dragons and harness the depth of their connection in order to stop the treachery from within.

If not, a once great nation will fall.

This novel contains some sexual content and violence.

Another great series

This is the ninth book I’ve read/listened to by this author and I think I’d listen to anything she writes. I’ve enjoyed everything so far.
I like the relationship between Karelian and Lazaro. Their partnership is not easy and both have to work hard at it. It’s easier since she has been accepted by the Akademy, but prejudices continue. When the man that helped her on her first journey to the Akademy reappears and offers to secretly train her, their bond and trust is tested. Yet, they must work together to try to heal the dragons. More are getting sick every day and the survival of the dragon species is threatened.

This is the second book I’ve listened to by this narrator ( Rebekah Nemethy ) and I would listen to another. She does a great job narrating. Her style helps the listener get involved in the story, and her character voices are varied. .

There are no explicit sex scenes, and despite the synopsis warming of sexual content, I can’t remember any. There is no excessive violence or swearing.

Good , Clean Fantasy Story

Story opens and progresses well. It is a good sequel to the previous novel, but, as the previous one, could stand alone. This is the mark of a good author.
Narration is very good as well as well edited. Changing between characters has good vocal pressure. I recommend this audiobook for ages 12 and older due to some violence.

The Dragon Sickness
Alveria Dragon Akademy, Book 2

By: Ava Richardson
Narrated by: Rebekah Nemethy
Series: Alveria Dragon Akademy, Book 2
Length: 9 hrs and 59 mins

I listened to this book at 1.50x

Surprisingly good.
Book 1
This is a story about a peasant girl with powers of healing and a Prince who is learning his able to transform into a Dragon.
The two meet up on their way to the academy of Dragons and trainers.

Book 2
Kaelan Younger has finally been accepted as a dragon tamer at the Akademy, and Prince Lasaro is her Dragon.
The two of them are on a mission to find the cure for whatever is making all the Dragon sick and dieing.

I was surprised how much I enjoyed this book. Its categorized as Childrens Audible but I'm 55 and listen to many genres. This is a fantasy book not just for children.

Narrated by: Rebekah Nemethy, did a great job. So many different voices

Great follow up to book 1

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

As with the first book, this was geared towards a younger audience but still really good. My son and I listened to this book together too and, like last time, we both enjoyed it. The narration continues to be well done. I really enjoyed where the author is taking the story in the series. Definitely a great listen and one I would recommend for fans of fantasy of all ages.

Decent Fantasy Book

I thought that the story was pretty good. It didn't really connect with me as a reader or a listener but there were no glaring mistakes. I personally think that maybe it just didn't speak to me personally. If you're a great fan of dragons this could definitely be extactly what you're looking for.
