About this listen

For a duchess with practical desires, falling in love is an inconceivable part of her plan....

As owner of the Elysium Club which caters to women’s fantasies, Aiden Trewlove is accustomed to introducing adventurous ladies to sin and vice. But he is uncharacteristically intrigued by the mysterious beauty who visits his club one night, yearning to indulge in the forbidden - with him. Drawn to her indomitable spirit, he breaks his rule of never becoming personally involved with his clientele and is determined to fully awaken her desires.

A recent widow, Selena Sheffield, Duchess of Lushing, has never known passion, not until Aiden’s slow, sensual seduction leads her on a journey of discovery and incredible pleasure. But her reasons for visiting the notorious club are not all that they seem.

As Selena’s motives become complicated by love, she finds herself with a most unexpected choice: forge ahead with a secret plan that could secure her future - or follow her heart which could prove ruinous.

Love 💗 this series

I was hoping for a different outcome but the outcome of this book was nice.

I own this series and all others Lorraine Heath wrote. I’ve enjoyed them all.

I already reserved the final book to this series - story of the last Truelove, Fannie. I look forward to it.

Melancholic Series

The story line and series is cute but leaves the reader with a sense of melancholy even though they end up with a sort of "happy ever after" ending.

Just wonderful

This is my second favorite of the series. Narrator Kate Reading did a fantastic job as usual. The hero and heroine were both lovable and made lots of sacrifices for their love. Highly recommend!!!

Clever Headline

Through the endless dialogue of this book, I kept trying to figure out how this couple would make their relationship acceptable to the ton. There’s plenty of time to come up with hypotheses as you are listening to the narrator state the same thoughts over and over again in a myriad of manners. With about three hours of the book left, I was tempting to fast forward to the back of the book to figure out what happens. If there is another book in this series, I’m probably not going to listen to it because I’m tired of this particular trope for now.
What I do get out of these books is a sense of what life may have been like all these years ago. Fellow woman, we have come along way and yet I know out there, there are women who still struggle due to circumstances. There is more work to be done.

Fun and Emotional Romance

Taking on the injustices of the times, Heath has woven a beautiful story of redemption and fierce, abiding love. Reading’s narration matches the story’s emotional journey. This book production was beautifully done by both artists.

I didn't want it to end!

Just when I think that this series has met its emotional depth or that I've met my favorite Trewlove sibling, Lorraine Heath manages to knock me on my butt in wonder and awe. Aiden and Selena's story kept me immersed from beginning to end and wanting more (in the best way possible). Their mutual devotion to their families, their strong (and well developed) personalities, and the palpable chemistry that morphed into something much more are all ingredients to a gripping book that stayed with me long after I finished. I also really loved the connection (and cameos) from the Scoundrel's of St. James series - it makes me hope that perhaps we'll see another spinoff after we get the last two Trewlove siblings' tales. 5 out of 5 wine glasses.

Duties be damned

Selena Sheffield had married the Duke of Lushing to help support her family. Lushing married her to beget an heir, again responsibility to his family. They cared for each other but never loved each other. After seven years of marriage, the Duke fell ill and died, without his heir. He was the last of his line and if Selena couldn’t show that she was carrying his child within a very short time everything would revert to the crown. She would only receive a small sum quarterly and a cottage in which to reside. For the sake of her sisters futures she must become pregnant quickly and she had chosen the sire, a well to do illegitimate son of an Earl named Aiden Trewlove. What she hadn’t planned on was caring so much about him.
Kate Reading offered an excellent narration that allowed me to envision the characters. I had read the book, but the audio added to my delight and enjoyment by giving voice to characters, giving me the freedom to simply listen. I had time to imagine the settings described by the author. I first fell in love with Aiden and Selena. As the tale played out, I became wrapped up in the storyline. By the end of the book, I knew I had to open the pages and fall into the rest of Lorraine Heath’s stories. And after devouring the books, I can once again listen to the tales come to life through Audible Books. Enjoy but know there is heat and spice in these tales.
