Publisher's summary

Not all scars can be healed with a kiss. Sebastian Lancaster, earl of Roddam, harbors a family secret so dark he has forsaken marriage to hide the past. When fate introduces him to Lizbeth, he believes he has met his perfect match - a woman with whom he can share passion without commitment.

Lizbeth Trethow risks everything to follow her heart until Sebastian’s past returns to haunt them. Desperate to hide the blood on his hands, he sabotages their happiness. Everything depends on Lizbeth unraveling the truth and turning this villain into a hero.

This is the love story of Lizbeth and Sebastian as they battle metaphoric ghosts born of murder and enlightenment to be together.

Entertaining

I got this free story via audiobook boom and this is my voluntary review. this was a long and twisted story with many lol moments and lots of entertaining characters. the dowager was just plain entertaining with that tapping cane. Loved the cousin. At first, I wanted to dislike him but as the story progressed I discovered that he was more than he made out to be. He truly loved the hero and wanted what was best for him. Hazel, the aunt was a hoot. I loved her reaction to the castle. The main characters were such a nice pair. I enjoyed every scene they were a part of. Their love for books and discussion as well as eventually for each other was a good tale. This is not a one sitting listen. There are parts that you have to really listen to in order to get the meaning. The narrator was good.

The story came alive in audio

I’ve read this story in ebook form. I’ve loved it then but wow do I love it more now! I’ve always liked how complicated the story is, how the characters are quite the characters and how some practices pushed some of my buttons. I loved how this was narrated. There were a lot of emotions to the reading.

Wonderful Read

This was a very enjoyable book. The characters are extremely likeable, even with all their flaws. That to me is a sign of a great writer. The literary references are quite enjoyable as well. I'm looking forward to starting the next book!

Beautiful Book

This is one blissfully beautiful book! You'll be absolutely enchanted and won't want to set this aside. Sebastian is a hero that will make your heart hurt and he'll entertain and enthrall you as well. His past is painfully traumatic and he has to overcome it in order to have his happily ever after. His secrets are something that he can't seem to let go of. Lizbeth is Sebastian's perfect match. Her wit and intelligence isn't something she hides and they rival his own abilities. She has the biggest of hearts and though she's been hurt she dares to believe in second chances, redemption and true love. The family members are intriguing and I can't wait to learn more about their stories as this series progresses. I absolutely adore this lovely author. The banter she creates is pure perfection! This was filled with both tender and hilarious moments and ones that grabbed onto my heart. I even shed a few tears while reading. This unforgettable tale has latched onto my heart and I don't want it to let go. I throughly enjoyed this and can't wait to visit the family in the next book! The narrator made this very enjoyable!

Boring....

I bought this one that had been in my wish list for a while and I bought it based on reviews. I found it slow and boring and the hero and heroine were uninteresting from the first. Quit about one-third of the way through.
