Publisher's summary

A short tale of love, loss, and redemption that you’ll not soon forget....

It’s the winter season of 1746, and the Highlands are snowy. In the village of Calvine, north of Tay Forest along a road that leads straight into Inverness, the only tavern in town is packed to the rafters with travelers. Eight months after the disastrous defeat at Culloden, the people haven’t recovered, nor has the land, and it’s a bad winter. When James de Lohr, Earl of Worcester, shows up looking for clues to his brother’s fate on the Culloden Moor, he gets more than he bargained for.

On a night when angels walk the earth, James comes face to face with a unique young woman...and the truth about his relationship with his brother. Love isn’t always shown in the most obvious way.

Nor is falling in love always conventional.

A blustery innkeeper, his sensitive daughter, and a cast of unique characters passing through the careworn tavern will become the setting for a tale that is as sweet and poignant as the very spirit of the holidays.

If you’d like to listen to the story of James’ brother, Johnathan de Lohr, please listen to The Earl of Christmas Past by Kerrigan Byrne.

Touching story!

Another great story by KLV that held my heart. James went to Scotland to find his brother’s remains and bring him home after the battle of Culloden. He found so much more! This novella was beautifully told; I loved it.

A story of miracles and healing.

James de Lohr goes on the hunt for his dead brother's body and a family artifact that has been missing. He wanted to return the body of his dead brother home to the family. James is now the Earl in place of his older brother and is trying to live up to what he feels his brother would have wanted. (Remember James has a pronounced stutter in his speech). The angel Raphael is walking among the people and helps James find his brother's belongings with help from a few others. James also finds love, comfort, and healing while on this adventure—fast past story with a nice ending.

Heart Rending

This is the most emotional book I have experienced in a very long time! While it is much shorter in pages and words, it carries a message that is both sad and exciting! I hope it is as moving to you as it has been for me!

Miracles happen

Very touching story! James de Lohr searches for his brother after the battle of Culloden. As with many of Kathryn's books, you may need to have a tissue handy for the emotional turmoil faced by James regarding his brother and their relationship. Excellent book, quick to read. 😍
