Publisher's summary

The small town of Hope, Montana cuts itself off as the world ends around it. Little more than a village all alone in the mountains struggling to survive the worst of dystopian disasters.

Jake Roberts is an outsider. A young man fighting to belong while the world crumbles. Torn between helping others and trying to remain detached. As the town and its people fight to survive both the plague and each other, Jake is caught in the middle of it all. How do people live when they lose contact with civilization? What happens when people lose what they have taken for granted? Food, electricity, and security. All of it gone, and worse, never coming back.

Mia Burk is left caring for her foster brother and sister as the world ends. A situation no 17-year-old girl should be put through. This new heavy burden of responsibility forces her to do things she would never consider if life was normal. But this new world means she and her family must do whatever is necessary to live.

Two people fighting to survive in a post-apocalyptic world where every rule has changed.

Ho hum

I found this book ok. There wasn’t too much action and kinda slow. The narrator did an ok job, needs work on his female characters. Less teenage romance and more excitement adventure would turn this from an ok book to a great book.

Montana This Time

N.B. I received a free copy of this book via freeaudiobookcodes.com. I previously read the subsequent entry in the series. The two books don't seem to have any connection other than the civilization ending plague. This one was set in Montana. They're similar stories and similar teen romances. I did like how this one seemed to focus more on a small town of people (~100 people) working together to try to survive.

Hope it turns to a series

The only thing that was a drawback was a little focused on the romantic aspect , That beat around the Bush all throughout the book In a high school like dialog. Other than that it had some pretty good insightful survival Tips, tricks and ideas in a post apocalyptic setting. Surprising to hear that the pandemic inside this story wiped out about 99.9% of the entire us population. A little bit scary to think of. Good listen happy I heard it.

A nice, easy listen

I didn't realize that this book was part of a series so I believe that you would be able to read it as a stand alone. It was nice to have a book that wasn't all doom and gloom. And that didn't have a super villain! I really liked the characters.

easy listen

this is a great series. each book tells a different story so they don't have to be read in any certain order. they are a light easy listen not over the top with violence or sex. actually, there is no sex but a kiss and imagination.

It isn’t bad, but it isn’t great neither. Kind of middle of the road on this one
