Publisher's summary

She’s twelve. He’s dead. But together they’re going to save the world. Hopefully.

The third book in the bestselling Skulduggery Pleasant series.

If you’ve read the previous Skulduggery books then you know what the Faceless Ones are – and if you know what the Faceless Ones are, then you can probably take a wild guess that things in this book are going to get AWFULLY sticky for our skeletal hero and his young sidekick.

If you haven’t read the previous Skulduggery books then what are you doing reading this? Go and read them right now, so that you know what all that stuff in the previous paragraph was about.

Done? Good. So now you’re on tenterhooks too, desperately awaiting the answers to all your questions, and instead you’re going to have to wait to read the book. Sorry about that.

Critic reviews

“A high-intensity tale….Readers, particularly Artemis Fowl fans, will be skipping meals and sleep to get to the end.”
— Kirkus Reviews (starred review)

“Utterly charming…perfect for the Potter crowd.”
— Publishers Weekly (starred review)

“Rich fantasy that is as engaging in its creative protagonists and villains as it is in the lightning-paced plot and sharp humor.”
— BCCB

“Landy keeps the action brisk, his characters slightly macabre, and uses humor to take the edge off.”
— ALA Booklist

“Skulduggery Pleasant serves up a thoroughly satisfying blend of humor, magic and adventure. Once you’ve met Stephanie and Skulduggery, you’ll be clamoring for a sequel.”
— Rick Riordan, author of the Percy Jackson series

Another adventure

Another great read and great cliff hanger. Love the narrator too. Only thing I don't like is the screams and the music between chapters.

Entertaining, yet losing momentum

The series started out with a bang! Entertaining and the narrator handling all the voices with skill.
Interesting story with bursts of adventure. Catchy musical effects.
And that’s the same for books 2 and 3 - the SAME musical interludes; predictable phases of life and adventure.
And downright creepy the relationship between a skeleton and a 14 year old. C’mon! Skeleton or not, he’s still a “grown man!”
And what’s up with her shadow? This is not going to go well and valkarie minimizes how she’s actually not engaged with her family...losing momentum for me.

This one kept me on my toes and I stayed up until 1 am just to finish it despite the fact I have to be up in 4 hours! It is that good!
