Publisher's summary

Is what they will gain be worth the cost?

A prophet of the Lord.

A God calling for repentance.

A danger they never knew existed.

After being thrown in prison for preaching of God in the town square, Amulek must rely on his newfound faith that his family will be spared the evil running rampant through the city. Little does he know that this is only the beginning of his family's trials.

Tabitha flees with her children in order to save their lives, leaving her husband at the mercy of the courts. Not knowing if she will ever see Amulek again and with no possessions to her name, she fears they will never find a place to settle or call their own.

Are there other believers with whom they can find refuge? Or will they be forced to wander from city to city seeking for a peace that doesn't exist?

Wonderful story about faith

I’m familiar with the scriptures about Amulek’s family and Alma, but this audiobook really brings the story to life. I enjoyed this story about relying on faith to get through trials. It was well written, and the narrator was perfect for the story.

Great book, not so great narration editing

Personally, I really enjoyed this book. I have read the Book of Mormon several times, so it was really fun for me to read a story that delved deeper into characters that I knew on the surface. It was a very fun listen for me, and it got me thinking about aspects of my own life and how they relate to these characters.
The only complaint I had on this one was that whoever edits the audio for narration missed at least 5 or 6 narration mistakes (like inflection, or reading dialog in the wrong character voice). So as a listener, I would hear a mistake, and then right after that I would hear the fix. It's like someone just added the fix, and forgot to erase the mistakes. It was not annoying enough to make me stop listening to the book, but it was distracting for sure.
Overall, I would still recommend the book itself.

Awesome fictional account of the story of Amulek

I loved this story. It will make me think twice when I read the story in the Book of Mormon again. Often, I don't think about the faith of the family it takes for those who are called to serve. The narrator was great, too!
