About this listen

The brilliant, inspirational next book by the author of the incredible No. 1 bestseller FIRST MAN IN.

Without fear, there’s no challenge. Without challenge, there’s no growth. Without growth, there’s no life.

Ant Middleton is no stranger to fear: as a point man in the Special Forces, he confronted fear on a daily basis, never knowing what lay behind the next corner, or the next closed door. In prison, he was thrust into the unknown, cut off from friends and family, isolated with thoughts of failure and dread for his future. And at the top of Everest, in desperate, life-threatening conditions, he was forced to face up to his greatest fear, of leaving his wife and children without a husband and father.

But fear is not his enemy. It is the energy that propels him. Thanks to the revolutionary concept of the Fear Bubble, Ant has learned to harness the power of fear and understands the positive force that it can become. Fear gives Ant his edge, allowing him to seek out life’s challenges, whether that is at home, pushing himself every day to be the best father he can be, or stuck in the death zone on top of the world in a 90mph blizzard.

In his groundbreaking new book, Ant Middleton thrillingly retells the story of his death-defying climb of Everest and reveals the concept of the Fear Bubble, showing how it can be used in our lives to help us break through our limits. Powerful, unflinching and an inspirational call to action, The Fear Bubble is essential reading for anyone who wants to push themselves further, harness their fears and conquer their own personal Everests.

After seing Ant's quest to Everest on 2018, I decided that I should also do it. A year later I went to Nepal and finished the Everest base camp trek 3 passes without a porter. this was phase 1 for me, before attempting smaller mountains like Lobuche East and Island Leak and then eventually Everest.
When flying to/from Lukla it was my first time on a small airplane. When I came back home it made me want to become a pilot. I'm now in the middle of the flight program.

Ant is an amazing person and a true source of inspiration.

I listened to this book while taking my almost daily runs. It was so inspiring and fascinating that I went further and faster than ever before, knowing that yes I could do it, and being so “in” the book. Ant is so honest and vulnerable that he adds a humanity to his stories and life. Must read.

Sometimes you learn more from a stranger than from a friend. The story and insights shared promise to help me for years to come. Thank you for taking the time to put this together.

The timing of this book, with what’s going on in society today is Erie. Too many people play the victim card. The only path to success is the one where you take responsibility for your life and stop blaming everyone else for your failure. Great book Ant.

With this book Ant Middleton really gives us a new perspective on fear. He shows us what our real fear is and then showing us how to deal with it.
He doesn't just show us how to deal with fear though. He passes on his knowledge on dealing with life and growing past survival and on too thriving in life's everyday challenges

I'm on my second read through and could really suggest it to anyone feeling beat down by life

life changing

When this started off I was worried it was gonna be a brit boy lad brag mag type of read. I was so wrong thankfully.
Ant Middleton is a tough bastard. But he's a humble tough bastard. He openly admits that he's far from perfect and that he's a bit of an idiot.
But his humility got to me. His Fear bubble technique just sounded so brilliant. I started using it immediately. This book has the potential to turn you into Superman.

ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT

First chapter was a little iffy for me. the story seemed to bounce around a lot while trying to find out who the author was, and what was going on. After that it got good though. I'd say once I hit chapter four I was all in. probably because the baseline of the story is a former SAS special forces member talking about climbing Everest. Two of my favorite things: military and mountaineering. Great nuggets for learning about fear and controlling them to be your best, and to be an all around good person. A lesson I think every single person needs to read and learn.

great book learning to control fear
