Captivating ghost story

Buying houses, renovating and re-selling is a common practice today, but when Julie and Brad buy a dilapidated historic home to flip, they get much more than they bargained for. This is an interesting and unusual ghost story, that in many ways is a story about the perseverance of love. It has some really creepy parts, some sad parts but also some tender, touching parts. The author managed to create scary without the blood, guts or gore and combines the past with the present in this story very well. Cash created characters you can relate to, and the personalities and the back story of the ghosts,Tessa and Gerald, is really captivating. The narrator of the audiobook does an excellent job on both the male and female voices, the different accents and inflections he uses bring the characters and story to life. This is a well written, enjoyable story containing twists, creepy tension and great characters. I received the audiobook from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Cool Concept

If you could sum up The Flip in three words, what would they be?

Romantic, creative, suspensful

Who was your favorite character and why?

I enjoyed so many characters in this book and found myself wishing it had been longer so I could learn more about them. If I had to choose my most favorite character...I would say I loved Tess and Brad but not together.

Which character – as performed by Dan McGowan – was your favorite?

He's so great. I can totally follow him and which character he's portraying. It was always funny when he performed Tess but I think he was the most solid as Brad. Really he gave a solid performance for all of the characters. Even Mr. Wilson.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

If I had the time to listen in one sitting then it would've been. I listened to it in 2. It was short enough for 1 sitting but I wished it had been 2...3....4 times longer b/c I would've liked to have it last.

Any additional comments?

Thank you for writing this book! I loved Stillwell and this book reminded me of that. I was sad to see that book end and this book had more suspense but equally as enjoyable characters!

More endearing than scary.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Flip to be better than the print version?

I didn't read the book, just listened to the audio version, but it was very well done.

What other book might you compare The Flip to and why?

The flip is slightly similar to Sidwell, ghosts needing to be put to rest.

What does Dan McGowan bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Dan McGowan brings the story to life and brings a personality to the story that would't be there without him.

If you could take any character from The Flip out to dinner, who would it be and why?

I would love to take dear old Gerald out for dinner and talk to him about his poor choice in women.

Any additional comments?

I love how Cash always has a heartwarming message in all of his stories, they can be as deep as you want to read into them.

Good start but tied uup the end too fast.

This was a fun book to read, if you enjoy haunted houses and those "Flippin Houses" on TV. Needless to say, they were trying to flip a haunted house and the lady ghost had a major crush on the living husband. Wh, great narration.at I didn't understand after they got rid of the ghosts, what happened to the "dark energies"? All in all, it was fun to listen to

Okay - So glad it was only $2.00

Horrible narration - terrible voice and mispronounced words. Story; While not the worst ever, it was silly and simplistic. That of either an inexperienced or not very good writer (although kudos for the effort). My main emotion while listening to it was mild annoyance. An across the board miss.

sexy brad

let's just get one thing straight right now. Brad is the sexiest man ever in existence. he's a manly man and he is perfect and sexy and so manly <3

If we hadn't been reminded every 10 minutes how incredibly sexy Brad was, the story might've been a little better. it's repeated so much it becomes comical. so sexy Brad and assertive Julie buy an old house and it's haunted. When the ghost appears, it's very sudden and i thought i missed something. i kept listening and realized they were ghost. i had high hopes for this one but was disappointed.

The Flip

This novella is an interesting ghost story that switches from past to present, telling two stories in one.

The narrator did a lovely job bringing the characters to life.
