Story
A group of cabinet ministers queries a supercomputer containing the minds of the country’s ancestors. A child robot on a dying planet uncovers signs of fragile new life. A descendant of a rain goddess inherits her grandmother’s ability to change her appearance—and perhaps the world. Created in the legacy of the seminal, award-winning anthology series Dark Matter, Africa Risen celebrates the vibrancy, diversity, and reach of African and AfroDiasporic science fiction and fantasy and reaffirms that Africa is not rising—it’s already here.

Story
South Haven is the premier mixed-used community in metro Atlanta - a vibrant place where old-fashioned country living gets a modern update. There’s the town square where residents watch family movies on the lawn on warm summer nights. The corner market stocked with organic foods. The bakery with fresh coffee and Wi-Fi. The stately homes on shaded, gently winding streets. The water park where children splash, laugh, and run. There’s also something deadly lurking.

Story
State Road 177 runs along the Suwannee River, between Fargo, Georgia, and the Okefenokee Swamp. Drive that route from east to west, and you'll cross six bridges. Take it from west to east, and you might find seven. But you'd better hope not. Titus and Melanie Bell leave their hotel in Fargo for a second honeymoon canoeing the Okefenokee Swamp. But shortly before they reach their destination, they draw up to a halt at the edge of a rickety bridge with old stone pilings, with room for only one car....

I've read a few of her books and I really enjoyed them. this compilation was okay. The narrator's if each story was just 'okay'.
Each stories ending left something to be desiree.. for me that is. I did enjoy the story of "The Patriarch" because of Patriarch, a Black Vampire. I believe that Our Ancestors are always here to protect and watch over us. Hence drew my interest to thus book. 3 Stars just for that.
It was a good listen .

Would you listen to The Ancestors again? Why?
I enjoyed all 3 stories. The first ended abruptly but it was a good story, I just wanted more. Black history integers me, then through in some supernatural and I'm hooked. Narration in all 3 stories was fantastic.3 Black Supernatural stories by 3 authors.
