About this listen

In a society that loses its collective memory, one girl remembers everything.

The beloved author of Rook, Sharon Cameron, takes listeners by storm with her brilliant foray into science fiction.

Seventeen-year-old Nadia lives in Canaan, a quiet city in an idyllic world, hemmed in by high walls that are constructed of a material no one in her town recognizes. Every 12 years the people of Canaan undergo a collective Forgetting; in the days before, the town devolves into a chaos of bloody violence, and afterward the people are left without any trace of memory of themselves, their families, their lives.

Nadia has never forgotten, however. As the next Forgetting approaches, Nadia is determined to find out what causes it and whether there is any way to stop it. With the help of Gray, the glassblower's handsome son, she discovers that there is a devious plot afoot, one that keeps the people of Canaan permanently subdued. Will Nadia be able to solve the mystery before the people forget the truth? And before Gray forgets her?

A remarkable story of memory and loss, love and indomitable courage.

I enjoyed this book, however the narrator whispered throughout most of it. It became annoying 5 minutes in.

Good Book!

I loved the book but the style of the narrator was distracting at first. But once the story pulled me in, it became a non-issue.

It took some getting use to the narration style.<br />

A very enjoyable book. Didn't want to put it down. Well written and very well narrated.

A different read.

I read all these reviews about the narrator basically whispering the whole time and was sceptical. Guys. The girl in the book barely talks, that's a standard thinking-in-my-head voice.
I thought she did an amazing job and I loved it, the suspense kept me listening to it constantly.
Only thing I didn't love, that kept it at 4 🌟 for me was the ending. I don't know, it just seemed to tied up and predictable compared to the tone of the rest of the book.

Hang on, read this

Amazing book!

The characters were wonderfully developed and believable. The pacing was good the story itself well wrought. There were a few plotholes that were left unfilled, but I didn't mind much :)

Very enjoyable!

I enjoyed the book the story of the performance it kept me listening straight through and I'm not a huge fan of science fiction. I'm sure a science-fiction levers will enjoy it even more

it was really great! Near the end though, a lot of the "S" sounds were SUPER sharp, and you could hear a lot of breathing
