Publisher's summary

Richard Paul Evans reads the second novel in his New York Times best-selling trilogy about a man on an inspirational pilgrimage across Route 66 to find his way back to himself.

Chicago celebrity and motivational speaker Charles James is supposed to be dead. Everyone believes he was killed in a fiery plane crash. But thanks to a remarkable twist of fate he's very much alive and well, and ready for a second chance at life. But will he use this opportunity to right some wrongs from his old life and start over the right way this time?

The Forgotten Road is the second book in the "thoughtful, well-plotted" (Kirkus Reviews) trilogy by beloved storyteller Richard Paul Evans. It is an engrossing, inspiring story of redemption and the power of second chances.

It ended too soon!

Really enjoyed both The Broken Road and The Forgotten Road. Now I’m waiting for the next book to continue on Charles walk. So many life lessons that we can all relate to in some way in Charles life!

This Cannot be the End -

I love these two books on the Forgotten Road, I hope that there is another book coming to finish out Charles journey to find his Monica and Son and to tell us if Charles is now close to God as he was in his childhood. I will be waiting to hear if another series is coming soon. I love Richard and have all his books in my library.
Your faithful reader and fan.

Another Great Book by Evans

I feel I need to finish reading the 3rd book before really giving a review. I’m enjoying this series.

We all have our “demons”, isn’t that what they say? Well, this series sure makes you stop and think about your demons and whether or not you’ve handled them appropriately or if there’s room for improvement. Yet it does this all through telling a story of one man who is living with and eventually confronting his own demons, so the reader doesn’t feel out on the spot nor like the lessons in this series are “pointed”. Rather by hearing the story of Charles, through his own thoughts, it passively causes the reader to ponder their own relationship with their demons. I find it gratifying, refreshing and hope-inducing.

Aside from that “deep” aspect, I just enjoy the story line of one man making out of an abusive relationship, making it big in this world, but then coming to realize that either end of the spectrum the pendulum might swing to is not really the “happy medium”. I think in the third book I might (hopefully) find the protagonist finding that happy middle and learning to finally free himself from those demons.... and thereby giving the reader hope to do the same one day. What is it Shakespeare said? “Above all else to thine own self be true.” Good advise.

Compelling story, didn't want it to end.

Really like both books. They need to be read in order. The ending was good but felt like there needed to be a 3rd book. That tells what happens. Does he complete the journey on 66? Does he let anybody else know that he is alive? Does he go back to the farm worker and help him reunite with his wife?

Great Continuation

As you go on the "Walk" with Charles you get to share his journey as well as share his transformation. I felt I also had moments of reflection with Charles that made me see some things in my life with a different vantage point. Great follow up to the firat book.

Good book

I didn't know this was book two, now I have to find book one and listen to them back to back. I love reading and listening to books by Richard Paul Evans, he is one of the few authors that is able capture and keep my attention, interest and not wanting to put it down until the end. Thank you Mr. Evans.
