Publisher's summary

The latest unforgettable timeslip novel from the USA Today bestselling author of The Secret of the Chateau.

Will love lead her to a devastating choice?

1942. Three years into the war, Pam turns down her hard-won place at Oxford University to become a codebreaker at Bletchley Park. There, she meets two young men, both keen to impress her, and Pam finds herself falling hard for one of them. But as the country’s future becomes more uncertain by the day, a tragic turn of events casts doubt on her choice – and Pam’s loyalty is pushed to its limits…

Present day. Julia is struggling to juggle her career, two children and a husband increasingly jealous of her success. Her brother presents her with the perfect distraction: forgotten photos of their grandmother as a young woman at Bletchley Park. Why did her grandmother never speak of her time there? The search for answers leads Julia to an incredible tale of betrayal and bravery – one that inspires some huge decisions of her own…

Gripping historical fiction perfect for fans of The Girl from Berlin, The Rose Code and When We Were Brave.

Overall enjoyed!

I picked this book up on a recommendation and really enjoyed it. I found myself thinking about Julia’s life and her notion to have it all. I loved the past and present comparison. I do wish we could have heard from the past after the war.

Great Story Line

I really liked going back and forth from past to present! It flowed well and made it easy to follow along. I would have loved to get a little more of what happened in Pamela's world after the war and maybe even a few months or year check in on Julia.

Pretty Good Parallel Stories

This was a pretty good story about Bletchley Park, although a little predictable.
I am a WW2 buff and have been to Bletchley Park on a couple occasions.
The descriptions of the House and grounds were pretty accurate.
The Contemporary story was ok but I did not like the "gay" angle.
The story would have been much better without it in my opinion.
Not sure I would listen to another by this author. The narrator was pretty good.

Good story but slow

I really enjoy historical fiction, especially about Bletchley Park. The dual storylines allowed for a compelling story about BP to be woven a little at time, but the pace of it is quite slow. The main movement of the modern story (especially) did not happen until 2/3 of the book was already behind me. I do feel that a lot of this book served to educate about two things:
1. Bletchley Park’s history
2. Gambling Addiction

Overall, an interesting story, if you like historical fiction, this is enjoyable.

Bletchley Park...

I really enjoyed the style this book was written. Going back and forth from War Time to Modern Day. Showing the strength, stamia, and smarts women have. It was an important cog in the winning of the war so glad more is being written about the ladies of Bletchley Park!

A Fresh Perspective

Great book looking at WW2 through a hardly used perspective, the decoders. Both males and females played a huge part in winning the war.

Juvenile and Boring

I purchased this book based on reviews and the fact it was historical fiction. what an utter disappointment. juvenile plot, disliked narrator's gleeful and euphoric tone of voice with a ww2 topic. don't waste your credits
