About this listen

There’s something strange about the mist....

After a night of a scary movie marathon, a cold thick fog rolls over Sherwood, bringing with it the promise of fall. And when FBI Agent Emma Griffin wakes up the next morning, she can't help but shake the feeling that something is off.

She turns off her alarm clock, attaches her pager to her hip, and heads out to meet with the agent helping with her newest investigation.

There are rumblings through Sherwood. A camp with a sinister past has reopened.

There are many different stories about what happened at Camp Hollow 20 years ago, but Emma soon learns the truth is worse than anything told around a campfire.

Thirteen bodies then, 15 now. And one that can't be found.

As she unravels local legends and shifts through archives to find out what really happened that stormy night in 1964, she discovers more than just one tragedy....

Welcome to Camp Hollow, where gruesome tales come to life.

Loved the story. Can't listen to this narrator.

I really liked the story line. It gave me 80s slasher flick vibes coupled with a detective story. That I loved. But sadly I won't be listening to anymore of the books by A.J. Rivers as they all seem to have this same narrator. I can't do it again. I STRUGGLED to finish this book. If it weren't for finding the storyline so interesting, I would have DNF'd this book almost immediately.

Interesting twist on a much loved series!

I have enjoyed all of the Emma Griffin novels in the first series and was intrigued by this limited series which places the characters in the 1980’s. I love the continuation of the characters development and the interesting storylines.

Good story, narrator not so much

The book was good, however it was extremely hard to listen to, not a fan of this narrator.

Standard stuff

This is a very typical mystery novel. There is nothing new, twisty, or exciting. Many of the clues that would help solve the mystery are withheld until almost the end of the book. It felt slow and plodding.

Poor narration

The writer would stop in mid story, interview, thought and jump to something different. Seemed to be to many inconsistencies.

Annoying voice/reading style

The narrators voice was so annoying it distracts from the story. Story was ok. Somewhat hard to distinguish from different characters

Labored and convoluted storyline

I pushed through to the end hopeful the plot would redeem itself. It didn't.
Good performance by narrator.
