About this listen

This audiobook includes the first four thrillers in the Violet Darger series: Dead End Girl, Image in a Cracked Mirror, Killing Season, and The Last Victim.

Start at the beginning of the Violet Darger saga with Dead End Girl:

Her body is broken. Wrapped in plastic. Dumped on the side of the road. She is the first. There will be more.

The most recent body was discovered in the grease dumpster behind a Burger King. Dismembered. Shoved into two garbage bags and lowered into the murky oil.

Now, rookie agent Violet Darger gets the most important assignment of her career. She travels to the Midwest to face a killer unlike anything she's seen. Aggressive. Territorial. Deranged and driven.

Another mutilated corpse was found next to a roller rink. A third in the gutter in a residential neighborhood. These bold displays of violence shock the rural community and rattle local law enforcement.

Who could carry out such brutality? And why?

Unfortunately for agent Darger, there's little physical evidence to work with, and the only witnesses prove to be unreliable. The case seems hopeless. If she fails, more will die. He will kill again and again.

The victims harbor dark secrets. The clues twist and writhe and refuse to keep still. And the killer watches the investigation on the nightly news, gleeful to relive the violence, knowing that he can't be stopped.

The serial killer thriller that "refuses to let go until you've listened to the last sentence".

A pause-resisting thriller series packed with heart-stopping suspense. Fans of John Sandford, Michael Connelly, Karin Slaughter, and Lisa Gardner should get to know Violet Darger.

Super Thrilling

I'm loving Violet Darger. She's a great, strong female lead who rocks in the world of men. Well-done. So glad she's not a cliche female...

Creepy Good

If you like details, this book is not for the faint of heart! I actually shivered at the details so vividly described. If gore is not your thing go elsewhere.
Mystery, intrigue, a little romance this is worth the read if you can handle it.

review

the first book was great except the ending, then there was a short story that could have been added to another book, and the last book wasn't even that it was like a teaser.

the performance wasn't bad , kept saying gyro instead of Euro for the Greek sandwich, and seme, instead of sem-i .

the story is great just needs more like the first one.

From the beginning book this series grabs you

Sometimes a characters in a series become real to you. Become friends. You begin to worry what's going to happen to them, in each story. That's what happens here with Violet and Loshak. With each story you become drawn further into their lives as investigators and as people. The writing is crisp and inviting making you want to linger over each tale told. Each word written making you excited for the next. Each new story is more in depth with more devious opponents each time. You'll find yourself longing to figure out how they come up with such clever villains. The narration is smooth and dreamlike keeping you completely entranced.

Awesome

THIS REVIEW IS FOR BOTH THE AUDIOBOOK AND EBOOK VERSIONS
This boxset includes books 1-2.5 Dead End Girl, Image in a Cracked Mirror, Killing Season, and The Last Victim all narration preformed by Kate Marcin. I really enjoyed her voice, she was very easy to follow. Great characters in each book, also enjoyed how much was not only from the "good guys" but also the criminals it made the boxset very intriguing with that perspective to the stories. Loved it both the stories and the narration was perfect I would recommend this set. Also want to mention as I read along with the narrator I did pick up on a few differences between the audio version and the ebook version for example the preview for the next book at the end was longer in the audio version and there was a few other differences within the stories nothing negative just different.

Go violet!

I can’t get enough of Violet Darger and her partner Loshak. Both are incredible FBI profilers. This series is a must read.

Mixed feelings

I’m undecided how I feel about these novels. They’re definitely not bad. The writing is ‘okay’ bit somehow a bit stiff and has a bit of repetition. Yet there are some really interesting descriptions here and there, some very quirky way of looking at things that I did enjoy. The characters don’t feel entirely natural. They’re not terrible, but somehow just don’t feel like real people. I’m constantly aware that I’m reading a story, rather than being drawn into the narrative. The stories themselves are fine. The narrator sounds a bit like one of those AI voices. Her tone feels a little off and she reads so fast I found myself checking if I accidentally hit the double speed button.
Yet the overall story was intriguing and I’m undecided if I want to hear the rest, because the second book was a little bit better than the first, so there is improvement.

It's entertaining but I have issues

I admit, although the stories are a little lacking in depth and suspense, they are entertaining. That being said, I have a couple of issues. The big one, why is the main character such a doofus? I would certainly hope that the FBI wouldn't hire someone as naive and gullible as this character. It makes it much less believable. And second, the narrator pronounces so many words wrong it makes me cringe. Where were the editors? Or, are they just as bad at the English language? Even taking these things into account, I do want to "read" on in the series. I don't know that I'll finish it though.

Well worth the credit!

I have truly enjoyed the Violet Darger series. Can’t wait to explore the Loshack series as well. Good story with good flow and good narration. Was extremely pleased with the sample of the next book in the series. It was actually long enough for me to tell whether I thought I’d like it or not! Can’t wait for more.
