About this listen

A USA Today Bestseller!

Ann Cleeves—New York Times bestselling and award-winning author of the Vera and Shetland series, both of which are hit TV shows—returns with a darkly delicious short story, "The Girls on the Shore", featuring DI Matthew Venn from the Two Rivers series.

It was winter. Cold and clear, a different sort of day for this coast where the westerly winds usually blew rain and cloud.

Detective Inspector Matthew Venn is standing by his kitchen window when he first spots them. Two young girls, facing away from him, seemingly staring towards something in the distance. They are holding hands, and they are alone.

Though not a natural with children, Matthew knows he must find out why the girls are here, on a school day, unsupervised. And so he meets Olivia and Imogen, a pair of sisters whose secrets Matthew must uncover if he hopes to get them home.

This short story seems has not much of a story to it. Not worth an audible credit

Story seems undeveloped ,incomplete very short. Made the mistake of not reading the reviews since it was Ann Cleeves. Very disappointing.

not worth the cost

Not sure what happened but the story ends abruptly without a real plot. I was hopeful that the story was leading somewhere and then it didn’t.

3hr long story that didn’t go anywhere.

This should have been free. Like others I assumed I was buying a novel not 30 minutes of an incomplete story.

Feeling robbed

I used an entire credit on the synopsis.-
Not cool!!!
Would appreciate if that credit would go to the actual book.-

I blame it on dementia! Ann or the Macmillan editors are. Getting old. Ann Cleves has always been wonderful. This was a great beginning, but so dissatisfying because nothing happened next. It was chapters 1-2. And not 3-13! And then, no return option! Ug. Macmillan audio ripped us off.I will be calling Audible to get my credit back as this didn’t even get me through one commute.

Incomplete

This isn’t a mystery, it’s a short story about some of the characters from the Matthew Ven series

Don’t waste a credit

What the hell? 3 chapters for one credit, what a rip off. Don't waste your time or credits.

Total waste

Cannot believe I am being charged 1credit for this nonsense, I would like my credit back. I have listened to all Vera, Shetland, and first Venn books, deserve better!!!!!

Irritating!

I guess I should not have just leapt at the name Ann Cleeves. This was a fragment. I am disappointed to say the least.

I used a credit for this?
