About this listen

There are two sides to every secret.

When her beloved father dies, Josie is devastated to uncover a secret life he has led with another family: another house, another woman, and a half sister, Valentina.

Born in the same week, in the same hospital, they look so physically alike they could be mistaken for twins. But the similarities end there....

Josie is sweet and reserved, a counsellor with the perfect boyfriend and the perfect life. Valentina is damaged and reckless, and she always gets what she wants.

But what she wants is Josie's life, and she'll stop at nothing until she has it.

A tense, pause-resisting story that will keep you listening into the night. Perfect for fans of Louise Jensen, Claire Douglas, and Sue Fortin.

I really struggled with this book in the beginning (like first couple of hours) but it did get better as it went along. The twists were good, but the ending came on abruptly. I would have preferred less development in the first 4 hours and more body in the middle with more to the ending. The whole "Viking" stuff was too much and unnecessary after a while - we get it, you're Vikings...move along. saying all of that, I probably would have preferred something else, but it wasn't terrible. just not The Ex. That was great and had I read this first I may have skipped it.

Very slow start, but it got better

Good plot but frustrating at times because the good sister always does stupid things that she knows are wrong. Leaves you angry for part of the book thinking how could she be so stupid.

Gullible sister

Not my favorite by her. Still good, but wouldn’t read it again.
3 stars will suffice

It might be better if each chapter let the listener know who was speaking. Two characters of the same age needed to be identified.
Good story hit kit a tad confusing (characters) at times

Can be confusing

The beginning of this book didn't catch the reader (listener) right away. The pieces to the story were intermingled and it is not until the end that it all makes sense. A good listen and once you start putting pieces together, it's great!

Slow beginning - but the end is worth it.

I think my expectations were too high as this is the second Jess Ryder book I bought. It didn’t keep my attention until the end- seemed a bit too long.

Fair

Where does The Good Sister rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I really enjoyed this book, the characters had depth. The story moved along and kept me wanting to listen!

What does Annette Chown bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I loved her narration, however, I wish there had been more of a difference between Josie and Valentina. Sometimes it was difficult to tell which one was speaking.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I liked when Josie and Valentina first meet - I can imagine their shock and confusion!

Very dramatic, a couple of intense twists!

Masterful story; unique twists; challenging and impossible to solve! You simply cannot solve it! A must listen!!

You won’t believe it!

This book did indeed have me guessing. However, I really did not like our heroine most of the time because of her stupidity. It got rather tiresome and I found myself rolling my eyes at times. However, in the long run, I stayed with it and it turned out to be a pretty good book.

Yes, twisted story

A very entertaining plausible and well written account of family secrets that I really enjoyed
