About this listen

At Cold Mountain Penitentiary, along the lonely stretch of cells known as the Green Mile, killers such as "Billy the Kid" Wharton and the possessed Eduard Delacroix await death strapped in "Old Sparky". Guards as decent as Paul Edgecombe and as sadistic as Percy Wetmore watch over them.

But good or evil, innocent or guilty, none has ever seen the brutal likes of the new prisoner, John Coffey, sentenced to death for raping and murdering two young girls. Is Coffey a devil in human form? Or is he a far, far different kind of being?

There are more wonders in heaven and hell than anyone at Cold Mountain can imagine. In The Green Mile, Stephen King builds the tension page by page and then delivers a revelation that will truly blow your mind.

"King's best in years." (Entertainment Weekly)

Great story, great listen, beautifully read. This is a moving story that will transport you and transfix you. Stephen King is at his peak here, in non horror/pure storytelling mode, and I don't think there are any novelists who can better his ability to capture a scene, a moment, a sound or a feeling like he can. I've read the book, seen the movie and now listened to the book and enjoyed every moment of all of them.

One of the best..do yourself a favour!

The narrator had done a wonderful job capturing the different characters voices and mannerisms. I will definitely listen to this again in the future.

This is my favorite Stephen King Novel

This is my third Audible Stephen King listen. Others were The Shining and It. I’ve loved this one most of all. Whether one loves the movie, or has never seen the movie, this audio presentation will please. Rich character development helps the listener to become immersed in the story. Will definitely listen to this one again.

Best yet!

Would you listen to The Green Mile again? Why?

For all those that have enjoyed the film more than once - this book is for you. Frank Muller is a perfect match for this wonderful book by Stephen King, and the book and more dimensions than the film.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Green Mile?

The ending in the book is much more powerful than the ending in the film (if you can believe that).

Have you listened to any of Frank Muller???s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is one of Frank Muller's finest performances. His voice is a perfect fit for this book.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes - except that it is too long - and it was written in episodes, so reading it in one sitting is not how Stephen King meant it to be read (or listened to).

Any additional comments?

This is Audible at its best.

Great movie - but the book is even better
