About this listen

They should be enemies. But passion and love know no bounds.

Returning from battle to England, Samuel de Mowbray discovers that his two younger sisters have been stolen by Highlanders. Determined to save them from vicious warriors, he convinces the king to send him north. While there, he discovers that his loyalties are wavering and that a headstrong, feisty lass could destroy everything he believes.

Catriona Buchanan must travel north to ask for help in saving her brother and ridding her castle of brutal English knights. Unfortunately, to do so, she must trust in the thing she mistrusts the most: an Englishman. Minute by minute, the man who should be her enemy breaks down her defenses. There is something different about him and she can't help but be captivated by Samuel and his steamy kisses.

I would not have gotten this book if I had paid more attention to the length of it and who was the narrator. Thus far this my least favorite book of this series. Just awful 😞. A waste of the credit.

Horrible Narrator

This novella was not really what I had expected as the ninth book in the series. The story was just mediocre compared to the other stories in this series, and I was expecting a little more depth to the plot and to the characters. The narrator killed it for me. Her performance was really poor. Too bad; I feel that I wasted a credit on this one.

Nine books into this series and they choose now to change the narrator? I almost turned the book off, but with it being so short I forced myself to see it through since I wanted to know what happened. I wasn’t all that fond of the original narrator either but this Anne Flosnik was so much worse. She has a nice voice but something about her accent makes her pronunciations off and just made it hard to listen to her. Also, the fact that she kept calling Arbella Arabella was really frustrating given that Arbella is a well established character in the series.

I enjoy Eliza Knight’s writing and I loved getting to tie up some of the loose ends with Samuel’s story, but wish the narration stayed consistent.

Good story, not so great narration.

I usually enjoy this author's books but this tale had a tired plot. Nothing new here. However, I thought the narrator did a fine job.

Not by favorite by this author...

I did not realize this was a novella, so would not have used a whole credit for sure. This was the end of a 9 book series and they changed the narrator!!! It was awful from beginning to end. AND, she mis-pronounced the name of one of the main characters the entire way through -- in the NINTH book! I have no idea how this is possible. Where were the other people who worked in this project? I am sad for this author; she deserves so much better. I have never written a review before, but could not let this slide. I am very disappointed.

Narration was terrible

The story is great the narrator is terrible. the story has a lot of great surprises for people who are fans of the Sutherland series. I know it's a short story but honestly I wish it was just a little bit longer but overall fantastic story

great short story

I don't know what it is about the narrator but it makes it really hard to listen to sounds like she's trying to sound sexy or something I don't know it just irritates me so I can't really tell you if I like the story or not too much because I can't listen to it

Narrator not good

I really enjoyed listening to this. I haven't read/listened to any of the other books in this series, but that didn't seem to take away from my enjoyment. It was easy to listen to and I liked the narration. I would recommend this to anyone who likes Scottish historical romances.

Great story
